2nd gen gears in 1st gen.

Hey! It's been a while since I've been able to visit you guys. A while back someone had a thread going keeping us updated periodically on his project. He was putting 2nd gen gears into his 1st gen. Anybody remember who that was or could you point me to the thread? I'm not finding very quickly using the search method. I've been curious how his project was going.
