silverdeer0454 Posted July 23, 2010 #1 Posted July 23, 2010 Just did my first carb synch on my bike and I have a quick question. While taking off the rubber hose from one of the carbs I noticed it had a cut/split, does it have to be replaced or is it just a minor thing? BTW: 1st time doing it by myself = 20 minutes. Saved $250 and 8 hours because that's what the shop wants.
Yammer Dan Posted July 23, 2010 #2 Posted July 23, 2010 You should replace it. Some auto Parts stores sell that stuff by the foot shouldn't cost much.

gibvel Posted July 23, 2010 #5 Posted July 23, 2010 Had to included travel time to the dealer, wouldn't ya think? Now days I dunno mine wanted 150.00 Yeah! You can by a carb. sync. tool for less than that and do it yourself. AND you'd probably get it closer than they would too.
silverdeer0454 Posted July 23, 2010 Author #6 Posted July 23, 2010 They told me it has to be dropped off when they open and it should be done before they close. I'm thinking it takes time to figure out where the shop manual is, which hoses to hook up and where, which screws to turn, time for the engine to cool down, then check their work and then redo it all over again. I bought the carb tool and told them to send people over to my house and I'll do it for $150 and give them $25 for the referral. They didn't smile when I told their service manager that. 8 hours!!! What the heck do they think they have to do to sync. the carbs?
