Ok I have some 67,000 miles under my 2004 RSV and have been on the Dunlop 404 WWW for the most. Last set I changed to the Elite3 Dunlop. I would like to see if any others have had similar findings.

Yes I read about folks getting all kinds of diffrent mileage from all the diffrent tires, but I have the following findings and are looking for another opinion.

Dunlop 404 Changed at miles Tire Life Miles

05-20-06 11,655 miles 11,655

05-05-07 22,575 miles 10,920

04-20-08 33,530 miles 10,955

07-12-08 43,614 miles 10,084

05-15-09 51,741 miles 8,127

11-10-09 58,950 miles 7,209

Dunlop Elite3

07-22-10 67,141 miles 8,191

Looking to make a change for more mileage than I have been getting.

80% of the time two up and on the back roads in the mountains.

I ride hard on the throttle and like I stole it in the curves.

Dunlop 404's I had decent mileage but the performace was lacking, however I did not have the awful tractor tire roar that the Dulop Elite 3 has in the curves.

Elite 3 performace in all conditions were unfalable but the noise is terrible. I thought the clutch basket noise was bad.

Rear shock still has fluid and still holds air with never leaking.

Tires are always checked for pressure before it rolls out of the garage no matter if it is just down to the store. Pressure nevers seems to be low. I always run at 41 PSI.

Thoughts from the all great would be appreciated!

Well, it looks to me that you have a problem - most likely either bad wheel bearings or dragging rear brake. Your recently declining tire life points to that. I don't know of anyone but you who has gotten LESS miles out of an E3 than a 404. That also fits with the lower mileage you got from the last two 404s.

The E3s do make a bit of noise in the curves, but nothing like you say -so that too seems to indicate something else is wrong. Ether the noise is coming from the bike, or what is wrong with the bike has scalloped the sides of the E3 to cause the noise.

Unrelated to you other problems, 41 lbs is overinflated for an E3.

In my opinion, you have another big problem. Look for it.

or the more he rides, the more comfortable and confident he his in the machine's abilities and pushes it even harder every ride resulting in increased tire wear.

I don't know...I chased that crazy cowboy through the mountains at Vogel a couple of years ago and he had no problem pushing it through the curves. :) He DOES ride that bike.

Goose,

I had the rear end & rear swing arm off, greased the bearings and grease the splines and the hub splines. Rear brakes do not seem to be sticking or wearing oddly. Rear wheel bearings how can I check?

I went from Bridgestones to E3s and my roar went away. I was pleasantly surprised, as I wasn't expecting to lose the roar. After they were about half wore out some of the roar returned, but nothing like you describe.

I am on the second rear Dunlop 404's, change it at 15,000 and I am still on orginal front 404 at 21, 000 as I have a couple thousound miles of tread on it according to dealer and myself. Very Happy with 404's!!! Thery are great on wet roads.

Don't think I am going to have any of these issues with MY rear tire, but it isn't for everyone.
