Many Extras on the bike I was going to ask $8350.00 I can send pictures if you would like to see it. I also have 4 new Polk speaker not installed OEM speakers still sound great. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s37/VictoriaVett/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Venture/IMG00055-20100704-1324.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s37/VictoriaVett/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Venture/IMG00056-20100704-1330.jpg
SilvrT Posted July 20, 2010 #2 Posted July 20, 2010 That is a gorgeous bike ... didn't you just buy it recently?...and why selling?
Whitlow Posted July 20, 2010 Author #3 Posted July 20, 2010 I bought it in Sept of last year I sold my custom one up bike and bought this so I could ride with my girl friend. We broke up and I don't need the bike I'm not sure I get another one anytime soon. It is a great bike the best I have ever rode but I'm sure everyone here already knows that. LOL I'm taking my oldest daughter on a trip with the bike the last of this month and it will be sold then. The bike has like 15800 miles now and what ever the trip put on it I'm sure it will have less than 17000. Do you think it is a good price to sell.
Sylvester Posted July 20, 2010 #4 Posted July 20, 2010 Just like brand new. But I could not insult my current bke with 130,000 miles (trouble free) and replace it. That is a great color combination.
V7Goose Posted July 20, 2010 #5 Posted July 20, 2010 That is a gorgeous bike - always my most favorite of all the RSVs. But the retail value of an 03 is more like $7,300. Best of luck on the sale. Goose

Best of luck on the sale. Goose Thanks for the input. Retail for the 03 on Kellys Blue Book is $8250 and that is not taking in to count for all the extras on the bike and the extra exhaust. I may put it on eBay and Graigs List for a try. I do not have to sell it but hate to see it just sitting around not being ridden. They are asking much more for them here on the classified I'll also post it here when I get back unless someone contacts me with intrest. Thanks Everyone

Thanks Everyone Yup - lots of places to find different prices on used machines. I was using Motorcycle Consumer News Used Bike Values, which are based on NADA. They show $7,855 (my apologies on the 7300 number - that was for an '02). You can even get the number up as high as 8700 if you use NADA and check all the "options" like the radio, fairing, etc. But of course we all know that is an error with NADA since those things are stock on the RSV. In the end, the actual value is whatever someone will pay, and yours does look very nice. Goose
gibvel Posted July 21, 2010 #8 Posted July 21, 2010 My stupid company is blocking the link to the photo, apparently!! If it's the Beach Sand Tan/ Raspberry metallic that is one nice and unique color combo. That was back when Yamaha had some imagination. Wish I were closer to you!
Hummingbird Posted July 21, 2010 #9 Posted July 21, 2010 Retail prices are based on many factors - one of them being geographic location. A bike in Wisconsin doesn't have the same value as a bike in Georgia in mid September. The good thing about the internet tho is that that factor is somewhat balanced out whereas if a person doesn't mind a little travel time he/she can get what they want. Your price is probably a very fair price considering the extras as well as mileage. Someone already mentioned that an item, bike, car, or whatever is worth whatever the market will stand. Your bike is evidently in great shape and it is a very desirable color - you won't have any trouble selling it.
Whitlow Posted July 21, 2010 Author #10 Posted July 21, 2010 Thanks V7Goose for all the info I never knew about the different places to check on values. That is why I have always tried to find great forums to be a member of and this is one of the best.
Condor Posted July 21, 2010 #11 Posted July 21, 2010 Here's another '03 on Ebay with a unigo trailer. 2003RSV #130412302710
Whitlow Posted July 21, 2010 Author #12 Posted July 21, 2010 Nice bike but over 2 times the mileage of mine and I don't know how much more wear and tear pulling a trailer does on these bikes but it has to add up to something. That is a nice looking bike I agree! Not as many extras as mine and I also have Riser/Pullback ext. on my handlebars.
tpalshadow Posted July 21, 2010 #13 Posted July 21, 2010 Extras are nice and if you can find someone who likes all the same extras that is even better. The problem with putting extras on a bike is you get virtually nothing for them on trade-in or re-sale. I learned my lesson the hard way with my 1100 a few years back. If you want to get any money out of "extras" you need to keep the stock parts they replace (if any) and sell them off separately when you are ready to get something different. That is if you can't find a sucker to pay for them on the bike!

eusa1 Posted July 22, 2010 #15 Posted July 22, 2010 the dealer that I bought the 08 at told me to take off all the chrome and keep it. the extra bling you buy does nothing for the resale or trade. VERY TRUE.

Yup, my post might not have been clear but when I said keep the stock parts I meant so when you sell the bike you can put the stock parts back on it and sell separately the extra parts you bought.
Whitlow Posted July 23, 2010 Author #17 Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) I went over my RSV and made a list of what extras I have with the bike I will list it in the classifieds, Graigs List and Local papers when I get back from my trip the end of the month. I'll take $8300.00 for it with everything but the Sampson Fishtails, New Clearview Windshield, and Poke Speakers. Or $8500.00 with everything take a look at everything listed someone will get a GREAT bike and be smiling for a long time! I have been telling people locally so it might sell that way also Thanks Everyone! 2003 Royal Star Venture Raspberry Metallic/ Sand Stone 16000 Miles Head Light Visors Turn Signal Visors Driving Light Visors Rear LED Brake Light K&N Air Filters (Not Installed NEW) 1.5" Handle Bar Risers Chrome Driving Lights Chrome Front Fender Rail Chrome Trunk Luggage Rack Chrome Deluxe Saddle Bag Trim Rails 4 Brand New Not Installed Poke Marine Speakers Drivers Back Rest ClearView GT XX-Large Light Grey Tint with 5 Position Vent on the bike ClearView CT XX-Large Light Grey Tint NEW Quick Fasteners Saddle Bag Hand Bolts PCW Clutch Kit with Heavy Duty Spring Hope Leather Tank Bib with Storage Sampson FishTail Exhaust Like New Tires Front & Rear Adjustable Highway Pegs Tinted Lower Wind Vents 2 J&M Head Sets Like New Edited July 23, 2010 by Whitlow
Freebird Posted July 23, 2010 #18 Posted July 23, 2010 I personally think that it's worth the money and somebody will be getting a very nice bike for a fair price.
Whitlow Posted July 23, 2010 Author #19 Posted July 23, 2010 i personally think that it's worth the money and somebody will be getting a very nice bike for a fair price. thank you!!!
eazyduzzit Posted July 23, 2010 #20 Posted July 23, 2010 I think it's worth it too. That's a pretty color and low mileage.
Christo Posted July 23, 2010 #22 Posted July 23, 2010 First - that is a beautiful bike - and a shame that you are selling it. I know the feeling as I am selling mine as well. Couple of opinions here that were shared regarding value and stuff I want to... well... VENT!!! : 1. What the market will bare - is true, right now I searched to see what i could find for used RSV's - not too many for sale - there are some, a LOT fewer RSV's than HD's. Also the new ones retail for $19,600 +/-, and I saw a lot of used RSV's going anywhere from the low $6k's to the high $13's - for used bikes with mileage - all in good shape. Bottom line if someone wants a bike with our styling they have two choices - RSV and HD, HD's are about twice the price - USED - so, do not be too quick to discount what your bike is worth in the market it plays in. 2. NADA and KBB - um these are REALLY used by the banks - it is what the bike might be worth to carry a note on. But some people take these as gospel as that is what your bike should be priced - I disagree. It is a suggestion for wholesale really, with a suggested retail, on what a bank can get if the one borrowing money defaults on a loan. Of course you can get a loan for up to the value that KBB and NADA say, then you would have to pitch in the rest. So just because some book says your bike is ONLY worth $$ really is not "true" - it does get used as the guidelines. 3. The bling factor aint worth diddley squat when you go to sell the bike - ya know I have a real problem with the fellow bikers spouting this crap. If anything every one of you who have searched, saved, purchased and installed some shinyness on your bikes know how much of a labor of love that is... and I can't get over how many here are quick to dismiss it. There is SOME truth that if you take it off and sell it, you may get more for it, but let's see, more time and energy taking it off, putting the stock back on, then selling - REALLY some of that stuff aint worth the time and effort - I work for a living and time is more valuable to me! :-) First a DEALER may not give you any money for it - of course not - their job is to discredit your bike and its bling factor ( I worked for Joe Verde - they teahc used car guys how to rip apart a car in on trade so you feel like they are doing you a favor!) - as long as you did not go to overboard with personalization like with pretty unicorns airbrushed everywhere and chrome pointed horns everywhere - they want to get the bike on the cheap so the next person that walks in the door they can say HEY look at this LOADED bike with all this cool bling!!! CHA CHING! They make money and up the price of the bike. As far as selling as private - I know that I have had several of my friends, and others on lists, who LOOK for bikes that HAVE some of the cool doodads - because you know you will get them cheaper then if you paid the full retail price and the labor factor - whether you or the stealer did it. They do have value - and usually they will have more value as long as it was tasteful, you stuck with name brand stuff or OEM extras that enhance the bike. Holy poop the first thing EVERYONE of YOU did when you bought your bike was put a dang luggage rack, hwy pegs, and some rails. It is SO nice to get a bike that already has that, and it does have value. So I beg you to stop spreading the self fulfilling prophecy that extras aren't worth any extra. 4. YOU have to decide something else too - sales 101. How bad do you want to sell it? If you want it gone and do not care who wants or gets it - sell it low and good riddance. If you think it has value, and you feel it would make an excellent ride for someone and time and money is of no urgency, then ask what you want for it - there is somebody out there who will take the same pride and love that you have - and to them that bike will be worth every penny. I just bought an 09 HD UC, but I KNEW what I wanted, and as I searched I realized that so did everyone else - so I had to pay a tad more for my bike than the same bike in a different color. my 2¢ and some odd change.
Whitlow Posted July 23, 2010 Author #24 Posted July 23, 2010 I feel that the price I'm asking for the bike is very fair if it were bone stock with no extras! So all the added items are a real nice addition to a super nice bone stock RSV! Take them or leave them but I'm sure the person that get it will be one VERY HAPPY person.

That is a nice bike with the bling. Heck, if I was selling mine out right, I would leave the bling, the Flanders Bar, the ZUMO and even the stuff I took off for the bling. Some the bling is no longer made by the OEM. So get whatever you can get for the bike.
