My Old VStar is now a Trike!

It was more then a year ago that a guy drove 12 hours from Canada, north of Michigan to pick up my 2000 1100 Vstar. He was getting back into biking and wanted to turn my bike into a Trike and I had just bought my Venture.

Anyway, long story but just the other day he sent me the pics of the finished product. Ive never seen anything like it. No rear wheel, there's a car axle under there somewhere.

thought it was interesting

here it is on my last ride with it (cabot trail)

That looks like a completely homemade deal, and a nice job of it too. But I can't even imagine how slow that bike must be now with all the extra weight on it. It was none too energetic stock.

I am guessing it is about like a stock harley...

None to energetic stock? Hauled my large butt pretty well but certainly nothing compared to my Venture!

I agree, it sure looks home grown but he says he paid someone to build this thing.

My wife rides an 1100 V Star which I occasionally ride to make sure everything is in good shape for her. I know how much energy it has. The suspension is not stout enough to hold two people. To me the thing feels like a moped.

Even the fenders look like they were rolled out of sheet metal by hand on an English wheel or something. I still say a very nice job, and whoever did that is very talented with metal. I'd love to see how the axle is attached to the swing arm and how the driveshaft is connected.

  • 3 years later...

I have the same bike same year and same color I am in the process of triking up and I would love to talk to that guy as I need some informations. You would not have his email by any chance ? I want to know if the rear end gear ratio is 2.75 and if so what size of tires he. is using to keep the speedometer synchronized ?

would anyone know by any chance ?
