Yama Mama Posted July 18, 2010 #1 Posted July 18, 2010 Here in Ohio, we are having nothing but temps in the upper 90's and high humidity. I have so many things that I need to be doing outside, but I just do not have any energy. And even riding the bike, unless it is early in the morning, or after dark at night, is not as enjoyable as usual. I feel like I am not accomplishing much on my vacation this year. How are the rest of you, who are living in the same conditions dealing with this HEAT?http://cache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/sol_10_13/sol01.jpg I was just wondering. pegscraper Posted July 18, 2010 #2 Posted July 18, 2010 Staying inside. It's a little boring, but at least I can breathe.
Monty Posted July 18, 2010 #3 Posted July 18, 2010 If you think it's hot outside, you should come to the power plant where I work. It's common for 160-170 degree temps inside. I use one of these sometimes while working, riding or just mowing the yard. Works pretty good too. http://cgi.ebay.com/MiraCool-Cooling-Vest-Poncho-Reversible-/260627274298?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cae989a3a
rumboogy Posted July 18, 2010 #4 Posted July 18, 2010 Stay inside...watch TV programs I normally would not watch and set the thermostat to 64 degrees. Yep...you can (literally) hang MEAT in my house.
Flyinfool Posted July 18, 2010 #5 Posted July 18, 2010 Yup, Run from air conditioner to air conditioner. My windows are fogged up on the outside. I'm even watching the Brewers getting flogged today. It is cooler in Atlanta than it is here up north.
LilBeaver Posted July 18, 2010 #6 Posted July 18, 2010 Some of us don't have to TRY to stay cool... I just comes natural. http://coolaggregator.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/polar_bear_tv1.jpg
slick97spirit Posted July 18, 2010 #7 Posted July 18, 2010 Yesterday in the midst of all the heat and humidity I got the bright idea that I needed to burn some brush! Yeah, I know, pretty dumb. Almost over did it too. I don't really think it's possible to stay cool in these temps/humidity. Just drink lots and lots of water.

1 Canuck Posted July 19, 2010 #16 Posted July 19, 2010 I just remind myself the -30 to -40F temperatures with all that white stuff, will be here too soon; all of a sudden I like the heat!
Cruser Posted July 19, 2010 #17 Posted July 19, 2010 I leave the desert and go to the mountians , its always cooler above 7000 ft.
CaptainJoe Posted July 19, 2010 #18 Posted July 19, 2010 Drink plenty of GatorAde G2, replaces lost electrolytes. Wear light colored evaporative clothing. Armour makes some. Believe its mainly polyproplene. It's a very light material that helps the evaporatative process. Also works in the winter if you wear cotton clothing on top, keeps you warm as it wicks the moisture into the cotton and away from your body(old skiing trick). If on a bike, get a 20 oz. spray bottle from Wallmart and fill with water. Spray yourself going down road and ENJOY. It WILL make you cooler!
kj5ix Posted July 19, 2010 #19 Posted July 19, 2010 Plenty of Gator Aide, and cool vest when ridding, but around the shop in these temps is meserable.......... and HOT!!!
Kirby Posted July 20, 2010 #21 Posted July 20, 2010 Just keep reminding yourself how long you had wait last winter for it to warm up!!!! Go ahead and RIDE!!!
