stardbog Posted October 25, 2007 #1 Posted October 25, 2007 Plan for this weekend is to change gear lube on Venture and Stratoliner. As Amsoil preffered Customer i have to chose between diferent lube weight. Definitly I'M going to Change with Full Synthetic Gear lube. Amsoil have six or seven diferent type of lube. Just Wondering what is your expirence with Gear Lube? SAE 80w-90 SAE 80w-140 SAE 75w-90 SAE 75w-140 SAE 75w-110 Marine Gear Lube
flb_78 Posted October 25, 2007 #2 Posted October 25, 2007 In my roadstar's transfer case and in the rear end of my RSV, I use Mobil 1 75w90 synthetic oil.
KiteSquid Posted October 25, 2007 #4 Posted October 25, 2007 The owners manual calls out SAE 80 API GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil, 0.20 L (0.21 US qt) for the fill. It also states that GL-5 or GL-6 may also be used. I bought Amsoil Product ID: AGLQT SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube for use in my bike... It is rated as a GL-5 standard.
Squeeze Posted October 25, 2007 #5 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi Stan, since Chicago isn't the warmest Place to ride, you'd better go with SAE 75-90 or 80-90.
stardbog Posted October 25, 2007 Author #6 Posted October 25, 2007 Marine grade lube is interesting... it will perform with 10% of water if any condesation happend during winter storage, And is 80w-90 Grade. I Think I'll Go with This one. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/agm.aspx

Thought you never stored it in the winter. You could use a lighter oil now then change it with the heavier oil in the Summer. Brad
dray Posted October 26, 2007 #8 Posted October 26, 2007 this is the one i use https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/fgr.aspx
