Wizard765 Posted July 17, 2010 #1 Posted July 17, 2010 So we left South Bend on Thursday morning. Made it to Petroski that night and now we are in Little Current on Manitoulin Island. Gonna tour the Island in the morning and pick up the Ferry to Tobermory tomorrow. Should be home late tomorrow night. Having an AWESOME trip. Did the tunnel of trees on the north shore of the peninsula. WOW! The ride into the island was also excellent. Really looking forward to tomorrow ride as well. When we get home I'll try and get some pics uploaded... Was a GREAT time at the Rally.. Looking forward to the next one. Wayne
bongobobny Posted July 17, 2010 #2 Posted July 17, 2010 We made it to Ashtabula Ohio after spending about 5 hours in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today. Should be home tomorrow afternoon...
Dano Posted July 17, 2010 #3 Posted July 17, 2010 All three of you couples are making me envious, I'd love to still be riding. But it was hot enough yesterday to make me want to turn over 'cause the front side was cooked! Seriously, glad to hear you guys are enjoying your rides. :Venture:
KarlS Posted July 17, 2010 #4 Posted July 17, 2010 Did you try the smoked white fish at the little trailer in Little Current? It's on the right when you get off the one lane bridge coming onto the island. A must stop when we get up that way.
Wizard765 Posted July 18, 2010 Author #5 Posted July 18, 2010 We pulled in about 9:30 this evening. Unpacked the bike and trailer then went to get our dog from out daughter. Just got home from that.. Had a great ride today. toured around Manitoulin Island for awhile then caught the ferry to Tobermory. Weather was almost perfect and the crossing was fun. Man that's a lot of WATER... Nope didn't try the whitefish. Didn't know about it so that's on the to do list next time in the area.. Thanks for the tip... I off to get some shuteye... hopefully be able to upload some pics tomorrow.. Wayne
BradT Posted July 18, 2010 #6 Posted July 18, 2010 Glad you made it home safe and sound. Sounds like a nice trip. We were in Tobermory today but in the car, at some beach for while then at a campground. Wind was a bit gusty at times Brad
thecount Posted July 18, 2010 #7 Posted July 18, 2010 Sounds like a great ride and travels back. Wish we could have made this trip but just not in cards this year. Do want to trip up to Manitoulin if time permits this year. Glad to hear it was a safe road trip.
Monty Posted July 18, 2010 #8 Posted July 18, 2010 Good you made it home. Sounds like you had a nice, leisurely trip home, with no rush. We're gonna have to get our passports sometime, and ride up that way.
Marcarl Posted July 18, 2010 #9 Posted July 18, 2010 Glad to see you made it home in good time. We got 'stuck' in Thornbury over night, man this place is busy, all the major hotels were booked full. Benefit was that our room was small!!!!! didn't take long to cool it down. Now for a leisurely ride home the rest of the day. Hope to make it before the rain hits, and so we can then say that we didn't need our rain suits for the whole week,,,,,, wow,,, what a great week!!!!!!!
bongobobny Posted July 18, 2010 #10 Posted July 18, 2010 We made it home yesterday afternon around 4 PM. The place is still standing and the cat is still alive, so everything is fine! We should get together some time soon for a ride!!!
RandyR Posted July 18, 2010 #11 Posted July 18, 2010 Just got home here in Georgia. Beat the rain by about 30 minutes it would seem. Stopped at Turn1 Motorsports in Plymouth Indiana, about 15 miles south of Potato Creek. They mounted a new set of tires on my trailer to replace the old ones that came with it when I bought it in April (had ordered the tires on Monday thru them). Then had a 2 hour ride accross US 30 to Southbend, IN where one of my brothers lives. Visited the Cord, Auburn, and Duesenberg car museum in Auburn, IN on Friday. That museum is a must-see for anyone even vaguely interested in automotive history and classic old cars. http://www.automobilemuseum.org/Pages/default.aspx
Leadwolf56 Posted July 18, 2010 #12 Posted July 18, 2010 Glad to see you're all making it home ok. We had a great time and it was great seeing all of you. We made our long 20 mile trip home Friday after relaxing Thursday and Friday morning.
Wizard765 Posted July 18, 2010 Author #13 Posted July 18, 2010 Ok finally had the time to wade through the pics that my navigator took. Most of these Robin took .. I point the bike and she points the camera.. Once in awhile she forces me to take the camera so she can be in a few.... A couple more that would be easy to upload here directly so they are on photobucket. This is just some of them so ya'll can get a taste of our trip.. Was a blast.. Can't wait to do another one .. http://s341.photobucket.com/albums/o365/Wizard765/Potato%20Creek%20VentureRider%20Rally/ Wayne
