SteveB Posted July 17, 2010 #1 Posted July 17, 2010 I have a 08 Venture Royal Star. When I bought it I had the Baron's lowering kit transfered from our 99 to it. Since then I lowered the front of the bike by sliding the tree up. Is there a way to raise the back of the bike up without going all the way back to the stock height.
Owen Posted July 17, 2010 #2 Posted July 17, 2010 Some folks here have installed 'leveling links' to help with the slow speed handling. This might be an option for you because they raise the back somewhat. I don't know if the Baron's kit causes any issues with installing them. Do a search here for them.
SteveB Posted July 18, 2010 Author #3 Posted July 18, 2010 I checked with Allen at Diamond R Accessories and he informed me that thier leveling links will not work with the Baron's lowering kit. So now I am considering returning to the stock heighth on the rear unless someone knows of another solution.
Squidley Posted July 18, 2010 #4 Posted July 18, 2010 It's probably your best bet to go back to stock, I know you can sell the barons kit here on the site with no problems. If you do take it off and decide you want to sell it get ahold of Gunboat here in Houston as he might be wanting to lower his '99.
SteveB Posted August 3, 2010 Author #5 Posted August 3, 2010 Anybody know what I am going to need in the way of parts to replace the Baron's lowering kit, to put the bike back to stock. Steve
bongobobny Posted August 3, 2010 #6 Posted August 3, 2010 For one thing, the stock rear caliper mount arm. Sorry, mine is spoken for by a member who is removing HIS lowering kit... Ya know, after wheeling his bike around, if mine had that then Triking out my scoot may have been postponed a few years!
BradT Posted August 4, 2010 #7 Posted August 4, 2010 I think Joopster55 had a lowering kit and Levelling links on. You can make your own links and change the Center to Center distance on the holes that suit your needs. As long as it's not to drastic. I made a set half way between standard and Diamond R's links. Why do you want to take the lowering kit off? Mine is lowered in the front and the rear and i love it. I put the rear kit on first and the next year i put the front end lowering kit on and had some trouble dragging my pipes riding two up occasionally, so i put the 7 lbs of air in each front fork and now i never bottom out at all. I usually run about 20-40 in the back shock also when riding two up.

I usually run about 20-40 in the back shock also when riding two up. I was having problems dragging my pipes hwen I was riding 2 up. I had lowered the rear of the bike when I bought it new. This last srping I lowered the front of the bike by raising the tree. I also had Rick Butler modify my seat. All of these things helped, but I found that I was still dragging on the pipes when I would go into a corner, or hit a bump in the road. I purchased some longer links through Pinwall on ebay. and put them on this morning. That raised the back of the bike back up and now it is sitting pretty level from back to front. We are getting ready to head out on a trip so we'll see how well it handles. Steve
Rickster Posted August 5, 2010 #12 Posted August 5, 2010 I"m raising mine back to stock also and keeping the barons lowering kit in the front for now. When I bought mine I didn't realize it had the barons kits front and rear. You will need the stock rear dog bones (Thanks Big Tom) and the rear caliper stock mount (Thanks Bongobob) Good luck on the project it looks fairly easy to do.
