bmorcom Posted July 16, 2010 #1 Posted July 16, 2010 Two days until I start my week of traveling down through NC. First stop is in Nags head for 2 days. Making our way to the Iron Horse Lodge to ride the Tail of the Dragon. Finish the trip by going up through WV via Charleston. 7 days and hopefully about 2,000 miles of great riding.
Grandpagak Posted July 16, 2010 #2 Posted July 16, 2010 good luck , and ride safe.. also, have a great time..watch out for the other guy, and ask god to watch over you as you travel.. you will be in our prayers..
Venturous Randy Posted July 16, 2010 #4 Posted July 16, 2010 Enjoy!! I must say that I envy you. RandyA
bmorcom Posted July 16, 2010 Author #5 Posted July 16, 2010 I will be sure to post some pics from the trip. John, how does one get the map of the states on here and color them in when you have been to them?
Squidley Posted July 16, 2010 #6 Posted July 16, 2010 Brett, Have a great trip, that is some of the best riding in the country through that area. If you have the opportunity go through the Cherohala Skyway. US 74/64 either into or out of Cleveland TN is a great ride too right along the river in most spots.
jlh3rd Posted July 16, 2010 #7 Posted July 16, 2010 try www.epgsoft.com......it's been so long since i've done it...i think this site tells you how........how's the bike running....
bmorcom Posted July 16, 2010 Author #8 Posted July 16, 2010 Bike is running great. Can't wait to see what it does on the trip. Much smoother and better response.
bmorcom Posted July 16, 2010 Author #9 Posted July 16, 2010 Just looked Cleveland up on the map and I don't think we are going that far south. I will have to make that another trip. Just gives me a reason to ride south again.
jburrell Posted July 16, 2010 #10 Posted July 16, 2010 have a great time and let us know what you find along the way that you like/dislike. I know the roads are great but info on restraunts/lodging you find that is worth our stopping would be great. I am heading there late Sept for a week. Can't hardly wait. James
bmorcom Posted July 16, 2010 Author #11 Posted July 16, 2010 I will let you know what I find along the way.
mm482 Posted July 17, 2010 #12 Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) If you stay at the Iron Horse Lodge and ride the Tail of the Dragon, you will only be about 25 miles from the Cherahala Skyway. The Iron Hores Lodge has good maps of the good roads in that area. Earl Edited July 17, 2010 by mm482
bmorcom Posted July 20, 2010 Author #13 Posted July 20, 2010 Earl You are correct. My friend that we are with actually has the information for our ride when we are at the Iron Horse. We are riding the 41 miles stretch of the Cherohala. We are going to ride the combination Cherohala/Dragon Loop on Wednesday. Guess it is 120 mile loop. Hope the weather holds up.
mm482 Posted July 20, 2010 #15 Posted July 20, 2010 :fatsmiley:Wednesday is a good day to ride the Dragon, enjoy the ride. Earl
bmorcom Posted July 21, 2010 Author #16 Posted July 21, 2010 Rode the Dragon and the Cherohala Parkway today. Great rides with excellent weather. Thank you to some suggestions we did the Dragon first, as the Parkway would still have been covered in clouds in the morning. Saw a great looking 2000 Venture today at the beginning of the Parkway. Gentleman was from WI. Forgot to ask he was a member of this site. We should be heading up through WV on Friday. Our plans are to hit KY tomorrow, arrive in Charleston on Friday, Western PA on Saturday and home for Sunday.
