bongobobny Posted July 16, 2010 #11 Posted July 16, 2010 Nope, not yet! Checked in to a Holiday Inn Express about 1/2 hr away from Cleveland...
b2dad Posted July 16, 2010 #12 Posted July 16, 2010 Thanks for asking...we are not home yet. We left the motel this morning after having breakfast with some great friends...then we all went in different directions. Don and I headed out for Michigan to meet with 2 of my sisters....whom I haven't seen in a year. Had a great, albeit short, visit. Then headed to Lake Michigan for another look and a quick stop to put my toes in the sand / water...AND ICE CREAM. THEN we headed home...which as it turned out, was back thru South Bend to Indianapolis. What we encountered was a good rain storm. We managed to get our rainsuits and big helmets on before we ran into it..which was the blessing...because not long into the downpour we experienced something we have never done before... A tanker was coming up very quickly on our left and was passing us as he hit a puddle of water the size of Lake Michigan. Yes, I exaggerate...but that's what it felt like. It was like it was in slow motion and I could see the wall of water coming at us and there was nothing Don could do but hang on and go thru it. For what seemed like an eternity, we could not see anything, but then felt the trike / trailer going sideways (don said it was hydroplaning). I think I screamed...but Don held on and kept us on the road and going in the right direction. (I promised not to scream again). It was like going on a ride at the water park except for two things...IT WAS NOT FUN AND I NEVER WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN!!!! Oh yeah, and Don doesn't either... I guess we were lucky in that it didn't knock one of us off the bike either. The Good Lord was definitely with us today and looking out for us. We were truly blessed. We went as far as Indianapolis and decided to stop for the nite and finish the trip home tomorrow. Sorry this was so long...and THANKS KEVIN for all you did at the Rally. We had a really great time. The best part was meeting up with old friends...and making new friends with some awesome people. This is the best group / family in the world! Hope everyone else makes it home with no problems. We really had the best time! Oh and one more thing...(sorry this is longer)...but we stopped for lunch at a Wendy's / truckstop and a guy came up to us and asked if we had been to Potato Creek. Well, you can imagine my surprise! It turns out he saw our Venture sitting there and he knew about the rally...he said to tell you all HI...IT WAS LUMBERJACK!
Hummingbird Posted July 16, 2010 Author #13 Posted July 16, 2010 We made our long 20 mile trip home just fine,But that durn steering wheel is still driving me nuts. aarrrrggh !!!
Monty Posted July 16, 2010 #14 Posted July 16, 2010 We're home, safe and sound. No rain for us, but it was pretty hot. We saw a truck flipped on it's side on an exit ramp in Indiana. I hope the driver was ok. 540 miles. We sure do love that Corbin seat!
Dano Posted July 16, 2010 #15 Posted July 16, 2010 did who make it home? If you were there, and knew who was asking the question, then the answer is readily apparent. We made it home about 5, staying just in front of the storms. Great time, great people, good stories all around and some decent rides for the area. Great job done by Kevin, Sue, Darrin and Debbie.

Wayne Wizard - you didn't have to win anything at the dinner, you won at the campground -- Monty - no I didn't get the horn on yet, it's only been 12 hours - 99 silver - yer Welcome ! B2mom - so glad you got thru that barrage w/o incident, I'm relatively sure I would STILL be changing my shorts. If you get that box filled up, let me know, I fix you up
