Scooter Bob Posted July 29, 2010 #79 Posted July 29, 2010 Yooper needs stater if anyone has a spare, call me 906-0486-9656---for 1990 Help....Thanks Yoop Yooper needs puller to take generater out at Eagleeyes. Thanks Yoop Must have heard there would be another first gen there huh? Better keep an eye on yer stator FlyinFool. :sign just kidding:Yooper, lookin' forward to meeting you saturday. Later, Scooter Bob
eagleeye Posted July 29, 2010 Author #80 Posted July 29, 2010 Talked with Yooper today, and he had a stator ordered to be shipped to my place, but they screwed the order up and it won't be here till probably Mon. (he's going to wait till it comes before heading home) but he needs to remove his stator, so when the new one comes he can put it in. Not sure if a puller is needed or not. Just a heads up for those of you who know. See you all soon, Steve
rjg1985 Posted July 29, 2010 #81 Posted July 29, 2010 He doesn't need a puller to replace the stator. The stator is screwed to the inside of the cover and the screws can be very tight might need an impact tool. It would be a good idea to have new screws also. I have an engine apart right now, I will check out what size the screws are and post that info tonight. Does the new stator come with a new gasket?
eagleeye Posted July 29, 2010 Author #82 Posted July 29, 2010 I don't know if he is getting a new gasket and screws with the stator, but I'll ask him. I do have an impact driver though. Thanks for the info. Are you going to be here on Sat? Steve
rjg1985 Posted July 29, 2010 #83 Posted July 29, 2010 I am not sure if I can make it. A family member has a farm and they have hay cut. I don't want to leave them short handed. But maybe they won't need me. I missed out last year due to bailing hay.
RedRider Posted July 29, 2010 #84 Posted July 29, 2010 Is there a gasket for the stator cover? There is no oil or anything to seal in is there? There may not even be a gasket. RR
BOO Posted July 29, 2010 #85 Posted July 29, 2010 Is there a gasket for the stator cover? There is no oil or anything to seal in is there? There may not even be a gasket. RR Yes there is a gasket. The stator is in oil. BOO
rjg1985 Posted July 29, 2010 #86 Posted July 29, 2010 If the bike is a 1st gen the stator runs in oil. I never worked on a 2nd gen so I don't know how they are set up.
eagleeye Posted July 29, 2010 Author #87 Posted July 29, 2010 Yoopers bike is a 1990 and a gasket is coming with the stator. Thanks, Steve
RedRider Posted July 29, 2010 #88 Posted July 29, 2010 OK, didn't know that. I have only taken apart a stator on a couple of old ('86 Kawa Vulcan and '82 Suz GS750) jap bikes and they both were dry. Now I know. Thanks. RR

celling Posted July 30, 2010 #95 Posted July 30, 2010 The plan is to leave Decorah about 8:30 or 9 hope to be in Sauk City by noon. Will this be an all day event I may run late. It would be nice to meet every one. I should confess I have traded my 05 RVS for an Ultra Glide the deal was done on Tuesday. I can park across the street when I get there . Craig
Scooter Bob Posted July 30, 2010 #96 Posted July 30, 2010 All day and half the night too. Many of us are staying over to help empty the beer coolers. Due to all the new parts your're selling, I kinda figured a new ride was involved. Enjoy! Later, Scooter Bob
eagleeye Posted July 30, 2010 Author #97 Posted July 30, 2010 Randy, Thanks for the screw sizes. See you all tomorrow. Steve
rjg1985 Posted July 30, 2010 #98 Posted July 30, 2010 Sorry I forgot mention that Yooper will need the gasket and crush washer for the middle gear cover also. That cover needs to come off to get the stator cover off. The wires for the stator and pickup coil come out of the case right behind the middle gear cover.
Flyinfool Posted July 30, 2010 #99 Posted July 30, 2010 I do have a spare middle gear gasket and crush washer that I can bring if needed. Just send me some replacements when you get back home.
Bubber Posted July 30, 2010 #100 Posted July 30, 2010 Bike is ready, trailer packed with tools and toys. The clock is moving real slow and I will be leaving here at noon today (friday). I hope I can either outrun the rain or have it push me along. I hope to be at Eagleeye's by 6 at the latest depending on weather. Looking forward to it. Momma says not to run over any of those Wisconsin deer that are always sleeping along side the highway. I hope they sell Leinenkugel Red in Suak City. I could be real thirsty by the time I get there. Bubber
