They make things that look like hockey pucks(although thinner and having a "V" on top) for under your stand if your worried about your bike sinking in soft ground/blacktop. Attach a small nylon cord to this "puck"? and you won't have to bend over to retrieve it! Which by the way, could be disasterous...

I thought about buying a center stand and fabing up Freebirds attachment.

When I went to jack up my bike, I found if I used a 2 x 4 cut down to 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 7? (have to measure), it will fit in between the exhaust pipes behind centerstand mount.

With this in place I can use the stock Harbor freight motorcycle jack.

I throw this piece of wood in my left saddle bag. If I want to check the oil I place it under my kick stand. It will make the bike almost perfectly straight up and down. Hence I eliminated need for centerstand. Don't use this wood for soft ground as it wouldn't take much to push bike over...

Ponch made up one for me out of a 1stGen center stand. Very nicely done. Freebird used to make one doing the same thing. I didn't get a chance to install Ponch's as I ran acrossed a super deal on a Rivco. Bling ya know.. :) I sold the stand to another member.... forgot who?? I've never heard of anyone having a problem with one of the 1st's...

Anyone here have a centre stand on their 2nd Gen RSV? Does it get in the way of anything? Easy oil drain access, ground clearances etc?

I might be able to get my hands on one, and like the thought of having the bike in an upright position when doing light maintenance on the bike.

thanks in advance..

I Have a Rivco center stand on my o1 RSV. Easy to install . Works great. I never scraped it in the turns.

We never know where or when we may need the bike to be lifted for emergency repairs, flat tires or any other reasons. Knowing most owners of Bikes and ATVs have a lift jack similar to the Harbor Freight that I have, I wanted to fabricate a bracket that would bolt on the bike and allow a HF jack to be used for maintance, oil changes and etc.

I used 2 pieces of 1 1/2" angle 1/8" thickness and 23" long for the sides, and a 11" piece of the same size angle for the rear, welded the angles, drilled the holes for mounting bolts and bolted to my bike as shown in the pictures. I did a cut on the stand side of the bracket to accommodate the sidestand and spring, then welded square stock below the cutout for strength.

I normally put my bike on the jack after every ride, which allows me to check oil level, rotate /check tires, bearings and do a quick "underside look" as well as make cleaning the bike while sitting on "the stool" much easier, before the next ride.

Hope the pictures help.

Larry (Carbon One) has been making something similar to that for members when using a MC jack for a while now . I would have liked to see a pic of the bike up on the lift part of yours. I'll have to look again, but I got the impression the lift part is angled forward, unless it's removable it could present a big problem if it ever fails and drops to the pavement while underway.... I like the idea that you can use it to do double duty as a center stand and a lifter... Now I wonder how much it would run to get it chromed.... :big-grin-emoticon:

Have a Rivco center stand on 2009 RSV. Also have one on a Valkyrie. On the RSV was surprised to find that on hard leaning turns may scrap the legs a bit. But not enough of an issue to worry about. Maintenance issues are addressed by others so won't comment. I LIKE being able to have the bike sit upright when I park it, anywhere. I can set my helmet on the seat, cell phone or glasses while taking off jacket or whatever and not worry about anything sliding off.
