sadicarnot Posted July 8, 2010 #1 Posted July 8, 2010 So rode my RSTD into work today and in several areas had to pass thru fog. The first area was not that big of a deal but 2 places later on were not good. My windshield fogged up and since I look thru it it was a major issue. Short of waiting for the day to warm up before leaving for work, is there any concoction that can be put on to avoid this? I ended up pulling over and wiping off the windshield, but it was not long before it was bad again. Luckily I was close to the end of my commute.
Monty Posted July 8, 2010 #2 Posted July 8, 2010 I just had mine cut down 2 inches, so I can see over it in the rain and fog. Took about 20 minutes and $25.00. Looks great too!

You may want to consider using some rainx if your using the Clearview or as this guy did you can cut down you windshiels just enough so when you hve fog you can sit up straight and see over the windshield but be behind it when not sitting straight up. There is a write up on how to cut down your windshield in the tec section. I plan on cutting mine down this weekend in anticipation of issues this fall when I go east. Jb
tpalshadow Posted July 8, 2010 #4 Posted July 8, 2010 I heard you aren't supposed to put RainX on bike windshields, is this not true?
flb_78 Posted July 8, 2010 #5 Posted July 8, 2010 You should not use RainX on OEM windshields. Clearview says it's ok to use RainX on their shields. Since this is an RSTD, Im assuming it's an OEM shield and there's not much you can do for it that Im aware of.

KiteSquid Posted July 8, 2010 #9 Posted July 8, 2010 I use RejeX on my factory windshield and it works good for me in the fog... I also use it on the painted parts, chrome.....etc. http://www.rejex.com/gifs/RejeXfamily.gif Click HERE to go to the manufactures web site. I normally buy it at SkyGeek HERE

KeithR Posted July 8, 2010 #11 Posted July 8, 2010 This may not be what you have in mind as a solution......kinda neat tho! Keith www.lewipe.com
Flyinfool Posted July 8, 2010 #12 Posted July 8, 2010 I had that once except it was frost that would not wipe off easily. I had to stop every 3 or 4 miles and use a credit card to scrape off the frost. Just thinking out loud here as this just popped into my poor little head. I wonder if there is a easy way to put in a chunk of flexible hose from behind the radiator to act as a defroster????? Hmmmmmm....... It might even help to warm up the "bubble" for riding on those cold days. Hhhmmmmm.......... I new idea for me to work on.
jfoster Posted July 8, 2010 #13 Posted July 8, 2010 Ok, I was planning on cutting down my windshield but cant find that post... can anyone help???? I took mine to my local glass shop...I marked (recommend) where I wanted it cut and he did the rest for $35. He used a ban saw with a fine blade for plexiglass and then sanded the edges down to smooth it out.
Condor Posted July 8, 2010 #14 Posted July 8, 2010 OK,... so now don't laugh.... I just got an Email from Lowell about a cucumber working to eliminate steam on a bathroom window. Wonder if a couple of slices might work on the windshield.
