I am tired of putting a stick under the lid for my HF x-cargo trailer when I want to load or unload. What is the right type of shock to buy and how do I mount them?

I bought my shock at Advance Auto Parts. Verrrry hard to compress when installing them, but well worth it. My lid pops up when I unlock it now. I can post pics of the setup later today if you want. My trailer already had a shock, but was worn out.

Hey pics would be great. I am trying to determine what size to buy and how to mount them.

The gas shocks you get from the auto parts stores are too strong. They are made for hatchbacks, the hoods and such things that are heavy duty. I installed a set at first on the BEERCART and it's much more HD over a HF box. Once compressed , they constantly had pressure forcing the lid to the rear after closed which caused rubbing. Some of the RV and camper shell stores have them. You don't need 2 - 80lbs. gas shocks to keep a HF lid open. I would say 10-15 lbs would be best.

What Beer30 says is true, They are too strong, really. But as promised, here are my pics. I have an Escapade trailer tho.
