I wont use one.

I just glace at my GPS to find my correct speed.

Yes my GPS cost more than a Speed-o-healer but it does so many more functions like find all the DQ's in the area, and is more accurate for vehicle speed.

I generally agree, but the attraction for me is that west of Kerrville, the speed limit goes to 80 and my max cruise control speed is 78 because of the speedo error.

I wonder why all NEWER vehicles don't use GPS technology to operate the speedometer. I firmly believe that is how they will operate in the future. Maybe with a mechanical backup for when traveling thru tunnels, etc...

Now someone has finally came up with top priority, finding the DQ in any given place, but as a fellow Ice cream Head. I can see the greatest importance here. I go into ice cream DT"s easily :big-grin-emoticon::stickinouttounge:

OH, well you pointed out a real world use for a speed-o-healer that i could spend my hard earned $s on..... THANKS.

HOWEVER I try to keep my bike under 75 as the fuel mileage rolls off a bit so the time saved on the highway is spent buying fuel.... or at least that is what I have experienced, but I was cruising at about 88 MPH..........

DTs for DQs is a bad thing......

Here is a little eye candy

Hi;

Does anyone know of any sales, special coupons etc. that will allow me to buy a SpeedoHealer v4 for less than $114.99 ?

Thanks;

JohnB

Well... I gave up on anyone helping with a sales deal for a new SpeedoHealer & bought a used one on eBay. All the new ones seemed to be price controlled.

I did a Buy-It-Now on a used V3 SpeedoHealer. It is being delivered to my door for $57.50. It is going to be great having an accurate speedometer!

I thought that is why we all own GPS'S was for the DQ'S...Was there another reason?

It's worth it...I love having an accurate speedometer. Unlike everyone else, I have no use for a GPS (old school-when in doubt I still use a map, more reliable). I'd have to take my seat off to see what I set mine at. I had another trooper use his radar to calibrate it at 70 mph.

If you need any help hooking it up and setting it give me a holler. Its pretty much plug-n-play or pm me for my calibration setting. 318 780-5088 jc

Maybe because of the time it takes to lock on satellites at start-up and weather:250: interferring with GPS function sometimes.

I'm not saying GPS isn't accurate...I'm looking at it from electronic failure whether it be equipment failure or satellites, weather, etc. If I rode all over the country I could see it. I like maps...

True, but I'm sure the GPS would always be in a standby mode where it keeps its position or at least a semi close fix so the acquisition is always close. My cell phone has a program called Quick GPS which does something to allow faster acquisition. I would estimate it takes about 5 seconds for my phone to get a fix using Google Maps.

Thanks for your offer of help. It was an easy install & I set mine for -10% error correction (80 vs 72)

I agree with you, I do have a GPS, but it's a piece of electronics that can fail. I have a laminated truckers road atlas that I take with me no matter what

:thumbsup2:

John,

Good to hear you found something, I'm with you in wanting to know the correct speed on my speedo. I'm planning on putting one on the '99 when I get it rolling again.
