elmicko Posted July 5, 2010 #1 Posted July 5, 2010 The front faring on the old 86 is acting like it's wanting to start cracking on me quiet a bit, so I think I've decided to make it a winter project. I would like to pull all the plastic off the bike, reinforce it somehow and maybe even give the old girl a new coat of paint. I know Plastic Weld is good for repairing cracks, but I really want to beef this thing up so I will never have to fix another crack again. Have any of you folks ever done anything like this? I want to start working on ideas now so I can put her up about the first of December and have her ready to ride by the first of March.
GeorgeS Posted July 5, 2010 #2 Posted July 5, 2010 I always put some kind of backing material in place behind the crack repair. Or fiberglass body repair material. There is usually plenty of space behind the plastic for the backing material. This will double and triple the strength of the areas that are prone to cracking.

Kit comes with fibreglass to reinforce larger areas. I've had to order some more solution and powder to get it all done. The bike has no rattles now.
