the wife and i took a ride from just south of Greensboro NC up north to the blue ridge pkwy. in Va. ending back at Fancy Gap NC. during a hard second gear acceleration i was watch the speedo to shift before i hit the rev limiter and i noticed the oil light flash on and off. i know this is not normal and i have not seen it do that before. i can't remember if i was on an incline, decline or level ground when it did this. i can somewhat reconcile it flashing on if i was either on an incline or decline as the oil could move away from the oil pickup. i ran it hard again in second gear (level ground) and had no issue. any thoughts??

Actually, it is normal. The oil light is not a pressure light, but an oil level light. Under hard acceleration, the oil will slosh back and the sensor will trip the light momentarily.

Nothing to worry about.

That is correct. It is also documented in the owner's manual.

There is a way to "fix" it by moving how the sender unit is installed.

There is a thread about it, probably in the VRTech section for 2nd gen bikes.....

thanks ksquid but if it poses no risk to the engine then i'm not going to mess with it.
