I have a set of D 404 WW and I've got 8000 miles on them. The back still has 40%. I've always set them at 40 lbs

You must be living right, holding your mouth right and paying the preacher extra on Sunday...

I have heard as low as 3500 miles on the famous D404, but I have have heard about over 12000 miles on the original 404 that came on the bike...but the next 404 lasted only a short while.

I would be willing to bet you will not get that on the next set, but I hope you do if you like the 404's.

Tip: change to Avon Venom or Dunlop E3 and get better mileage PLUS better handling.

I had a set of Avons before this, wasn't expecting much from the Dunlop, bought em for the look. The key I guess is keepin them at max inflation not 35

Just because you have 40% tread left, please don't ignore your wear rate for the next couple thousand miles. You may be shock how quickly that 40% dissapears. New tires seem to go forever until you get to the bottom half then the rate picks up quickly.

I'm certainly no expert on tires or anything else, and you may know more about tires than I do.

Just saying....
