Sweetnothing Posted July 2, 2010 #31 Posted July 2, 2010 Put me in too. I have been wanting to make it to MD and this will give me more incentive to "NOT", put it off till the next year! Just for $hits and giggles I looked up what we are talking about, May was the latest date I could look up>($4,965.60 total) for both of them. Less than $35.00 each for 160 people donating! Not bad since I saw there were over 160 at MD this year? I think? Roundtrip: $2,482.80 avg/person 7:20 pm Depart Perth (PER) Arrive Cleveland (CLE) 10:33 pm http://www.expedia.com/eta/tip_icon.gif+1 day Sat 21-May Duration: 39hr 13mn http://www.expedia.com/pubspec/images/airlines/smNZ.gif Air New Zealand 176 / 18 http://www.expedia.com/pubspec/images/airlines/smUA.gif UNITED http://www.expedia.com/eta/icon_codeshare.gif3536 Connect in Auckland (AKL), Los Angeles (LAX) Total stops: 3 http://www.expedia.com/eta/spaceit.gif 4:55 pm Depart Cleveland (CLE) Arrive Perth (PER) 6:10 pm http://www.expedia.com/eta/tip_icon.gif+2 days Fri 27-May Duration: 37hr 15mn http://www.expedia.com/pubspec/images/airlines/smNZ.gif Air New Zealand http://www.expedia.com/eta/icon_codeshare.gif3403 / 1 / 175 Connect in Los Angeles (LAX), Auckland (AKL) Bryan Thats about right Bryan.....Thats what I found yesterday......The sooner we can get the monies together, the better off we will be. The prices will go up as we get closer to the date! I seen the prices up to 8 grand each!
BIG TOM Posted July 2, 2010 #32 Posted July 2, 2010 Count me in also..... ANYTHING for Annie and Quickstep..........
utadventure Posted July 2, 2010 #33 Posted July 2, 2010 Mini- Love to help out!! Count us in. Now, to get time off and get there myself and meet everyone. Dave
mini-muffin Posted July 2, 2010 Author #35 Posted July 2, 2010 Wow if this all works out I think Don might actually get more then 250 in his yard. Told him next year needs to be bigger and better. I think this does it. The prices will depend on when MD is scheduled for and how far in advance we can buy. I take it we don't have any travel agents in the bunch no problem I can find the help we'll need. You folks are a crazy wonderful bunch. Margaret
Guest scarylarry Posted July 2, 2010 #36 Posted July 2, 2010 Let me do some checking as well, since I work for a airport... Sometimes the arrival airport can cost you more than the one in the next town depends a lot on landing fees etc. Example I flew to MHT in New Hampshire instead of Logan in Mass. and save few hundred bucks...I don't fly anymore, I own a venture and I'm not in that big of a hurry..
Guest scarylarry Posted July 2, 2010 #37 Posted July 2, 2010 Roundtrip: $2,482.80 When move to Columbus Oh it drop to 2139.00.. Just a thought
mini-muffin Posted July 2, 2010 Author #38 Posted July 2, 2010 Well since we need them to fly into an airport close to Don's it should be less then say Cincinnati. Yama mama said that ones really pricey. But since it's too far we should be ok. My cousin is a travel agent so I'm gonna call her and see if she has any contacts that might make it cheaper. Margaret
Dano Posted July 3, 2010 #40 Posted July 3, 2010 Count me in Margaret. Heck, we'll even escort them from Columbus to Oberlin, should make for a nice ride. Go up 3 or 62 and turn northwest after 50 miles or so. Gotta show her some good roads on the way, introduce her right and go through the hills of NE Ohio!
Aussie Annie Posted July 3, 2010 #41 Posted July 3, 2010 Amazed that you would think of this Overwhelmed at your generosity Emotional every time I think of you all! I won't post in here too often, my eyes get too watery.
Quickstep Posted July 3, 2010 #42 Posted July 3, 2010 [Annie typing] Seems to be an extreme way to get 250 people to come to 2011 MD [joke] I would like to thank you all for the thought, it's very humbling. Doesn't matter which airport, 'cause we will hire a vehicle on arrival and drive ourselves to Dons'. Annie needs something with the seat higher -- and we'll have her wheelchair etc. too. Don is the host of MD and needs to be concentrating on all that....and not worry about picking us up - okay.
BEER30 Posted July 3, 2010 #43 Posted July 3, 2010 Wouldn't it be CHEAPER if it were just a ONE-WAY trip? Don will need a full time Care Takers for the Pond Monsters for years to come ! Count Becky and I in as well. Let me know where to PP a donation. BEER30
Snarley Bill Posted July 3, 2010 #44 Posted July 3, 2010 we love annie, count linda and me in. :clap2:
Squidley Posted July 3, 2010 #46 Posted July 3, 2010 So who's taking the donations? Seeing this is Mini's baby, we'll see what she feels comfortable with. If she wants to take the donations thats fine, if she wants someone else to, thats cool too. She might be a bit overwhelmed at the responce. We'll chat with her this weekend and see what she likes
halfwitt Posted July 3, 2010 #47 Posted July 3, 2010 Kids are off to college in the fall and Brenda and I will be empty nesters. One of the things on our list is to make our first MD!! We will absolutely contribute to this very good cause!!
mini-muffin Posted July 3, 2010 Author #50 Posted July 3, 2010 I'll definitely be talking to those who have handled the donation thing before. I don't want to screw any of this up. Margaret
