Redneck Posted October 24, 2007 #26 Posted October 24, 2007 Ahh geeeeez this is a bad sign it means winter is coming. The board getting filled up with second gen is better then first gen garbage. It's gonna be a long winter. Every body knows first gens rule. I here it every meet and eat. Slow down the second gen boys are coming and we don't want to loose them somewhere in the mountains. Give me a Red Baron and Blue beast run any day. Is that Brown sugar I see in the rear view?:whistling:I will have to agree with you frog man first gens do rule. They rule there owners the first rule is you can't ride today because I don't want to start.the second rule if they happen to start they tell you you can't go that far because there tired and there parts will start falling off. Third, rule you are not taking me out in public where people keep calling me an antique goldwing wana be. forth rule you are not going riding with those second gens it hurts too much to try to keep up that constant spuring hurts. and on and on.:rotf:
Redneck Posted October 24, 2007 #27 Posted October 24, 2007 But HOw do you get out in Front???? We know that won't work!!The way you get in front of a first gen is you ride around to the other side of the shade tree that they are broke down under.
FROG MAN Posted October 24, 2007 #28 Posted October 24, 2007 You second gen boys never satisfied. You can out run a Harley but thats not good enough. Bring on the Nasty boys,K&N filters, programmable electronic ignitions, even installing Vmax rearends and Still can't catch a stock first gen. You boys just shine your chrome and dream about the smile on a first gen owners face.:rotf:
Freebird Posted October 24, 2007 #29 Posted October 24, 2007 1. How many 1st generations were sold in the USA & Canada? 2. How many 2nd generations sold to the same locates? Reason for questions: In all our travels we've only personally known 1 couple who owned a 1st generation, (that was about 10 years ago in Maine.) Up to and including today we personally know no one who ownes or has ever owned a 2nd generation. Seeing either version on the roads around here is almost never ever. That's why we're here on this great site. To ask questions, and to learn all we can about the Venture and/or Tour Deluxe. We're very interested in these V-4 products. I have tried many times to find this information. Yamaha does not release those figures and I've never found them anywhere else.
Rocket Posted October 25, 2007 #30 Posted October 25, 2007 But HOw do you get out in Front???? We know that won't work!! Bypassing the Tim Hortons or DQ fueling stops, sneaking ahead. Would be the likely method used.
DragonRider Posted October 25, 2007 #31 Posted October 25, 2007 Who said i am not liking it............you didnt hear that from me, in fact I am really enjoying it, so dont be putting words in my mouth that arent there!!!! Remember, I have only had it for a little over a month............ Almost I told you that you would not really like the harley clone you just had to have. Jeff
DragonRider Posted October 25, 2007 #32 Posted October 25, 2007 There you go, taking it out of context again............ Almost I told you that you would not really like the harley clone you just had to have. Jeff

Condor Posted October 25, 2007 #35 Posted October 25, 2007 Every time there is a post about a problem with a 2nd gen, some 1st gen owner has to chime in with "...you should've bought a 1st gen!", or "...that bike can't keep up with a 1st gen." Why so much animosity? it sounds like the 1st gens are falling apart. Oil leaks, electrical problems, brakes locking up and the list goes on and on. That's because you're only reading 2ndGen posts... Take you entire post and swap out the 1st and 2nd references and it reads the same......
Guest Popeye Posted October 25, 2007 #36 Posted October 25, 2007 I've had several 'brand new' & many newer bikes. Both the new & old have let me down over the past 700k+ miles. Now I have an older one with almost 38k miles on it. Never had any parts fall off & no one ever asked if it was an antique. Most important, wife thinks its comfortable & a great trunk for 'her' stuff. Plus, our scoot has all the extras, that I wouldn't want to have to 'buy'. Then, there are no payments, cheap insurance/tax/tags, which allow for more gas/rides/trips. We thought about getting a new 2008 RSV, but couldn't find one anywhere. Also, we wondered how much better off would we be with a scoot that only had 38k less miles on it? Finally, we thought about a compromise...something from the '90s...but, that would just mean another used bike [that didn't make any sense]. How to get the comfort & performance of a 1st Gen, with all the extras, with the warranty of a 2nd Gen....without a monthly payment, big insurance, etc.??
stardbog Posted October 26, 2007 #37 Posted October 26, 2007 Eddie where is your video " First Gen Suck " From Last year Casino ride Yeah Froggie, 1st Gen Is sooo superior... You are end up riding 2nd Gen.. Silver 99...And nobudy can take off smile from Ramons Face...Superior comfortable. :whistling::whistling:
SilvrT Posted October 26, 2007 #38 Posted October 26, 2007 In support of 1st genners, I have had several occasions where folks have thought my 20 yr old scoot was new or near new and were absolutely aghast that it is 20 yrs old. I had one guy do a double-take like I've never seen before... then he started inspecting the bike closely obviously in an attemt to disprove me telling him it was 20 yrs old... he just couldn't believe it! OK you 2nd genners.... top that! :witch_brew: :rotf:
Squeeze Posted October 26, 2007 #39 Posted October 26, 2007 ... OK you 2nd genners.... top that! :witch_brew: :rotf: They won't be able .... This 2Gen looks old styled, even when new and in the Showroom ... :stirthepot::rotf:
FROG MAN Posted October 26, 2007 #40 Posted October 26, 2007 Yeah Froggy, 1st Gen Is sooo superior... You are end up riding 2nd Gen.. Silver 99...And nobudy can take off smile from Ramons Face...Superior comfortable. She should smile it's hers not mine. Notice no second gen in my vp gallery. That second gen is so slow we decided to keep the voyager kit on it and use it for towing only. Comfort is not bad but no good for hot weather riding. The heat off those exposed engine cases is a cooker. Ramona has tried to get me to slow down so we now own a second gen for two up.

FROG MAN Posted October 26, 2007 #44 Posted October 26, 2007 Excellent idea Bill. We hijack this thread to include Vstar bashing. So who wants to pass Lewis and Bill at the next meet and eat?:rotf:
