There are a number of different sects of Amish in this area.

The Swartzentruber sect is the most strict and they don't like pictures. They are in the Holmes County area. They even refuse to display a slow moving vehicle sign on their buggies due to the orange color.

The more moderate ones don't mind as much.

There is also a large Mennonite population in the area. Very similar to Amish in outward appearance, but less strict. I have seen Mennonites using gas powered mowers on their lawns.

I had an Amish young man make a seat extender for the bike this spring when I moved backrest rearward 2". Good work and very cheap.

We have lots of Mennonites around here too. They own several businesses. They used to only drive black vehicles, but they realized that repainting all of the cars black lowered their resale value, so they drive all different color vehicles now.

Some of them have to move to other areas such as Ohio or Pennsylvania, as they do a lot of inbreeding, and they have to mix it up now and then, or they start having problems. Families will move around to keep "new blood" in the gene pool.

They do drink alot too.
