earwig Posted June 25, 2010 #26 Posted June 25, 2010 I think its pretty much been said above, but I'll throw my two cents in. They are all great bike with issues of their own. I now have a 07 RSV, but have owned both Harley and BMW. Have a friend that rides a wing. The longer that I ride my RSV the better I like it. Fits me better and I love the look, ride and sound. Ride what you like and don't worry about what others say. Opinions are like *******s-everyone has one and most of them stink!
Guest Swifty Posted June 25, 2010 #27 Posted June 25, 2010 I have owned an RSV and currently own a GL1800. Those conclusions are suspect IMO. RSV engine performance better than Honda? I don't think soooo. Any body wanna race? :sign yeah that: suspect??? Their conclusions are outright wrong. How can anyone with a brain say the Honda engine isn't better than the Yamaha. And how is the fun factor measured??? Fun changing rear ends to get better gearing? Fun putting gas in a tank to feed a smaller engine getting worse gas mileage? Fun waiting for the rev limiter to kick in? Fun carving the twisties, or idling around a parking lot?
Eck Posted June 25, 2010 #28 Posted June 25, 2010 I figure if Eck still had his RSV and not the Wing ... it would still be number 1 in all categories. Right on SilvrT,.........you got it......... I think when the dust settles, all of us are happy with the iron horse we ride..It does not matter what it is as long as the wind is in our face. I loved my RSV..put a few dollars in it and wish I still had it. The RSV's are great bikes as well as any other make out there. There may be a few that want to move on to another type horse, but any horse they choose will still be "their" personal thoroughbred.
Snarley Bill Posted June 25, 2010 #29 Posted June 25, 2010 don't think the thread is about bike bashing, just wonderment in how they arrive at their conclusions. they seem way off to me. most all think they have the ultimate bike ,as they should. but in the real world some bikes just out shine others in certain catagories. the venture to me out shines the wing in rider seating position and the real traditional motorcycle appearance. from there on the wing out shines the venture on everything else. the only thing that puts the bikes in the same class is they are both tourers. the beemer may handle like a wing i don't know but the others don't come close. none will out power a wing at any rpm. i can pull hills smooth as silk two up at 1500 rpm and easily accelerate smoothly. i get 44 mpg no matter how i ride it. almost zero maintenance. wide open accessory market, etc. i'm not bias toward the wing because i have one, it,s just the facts. i ride my majesty scooter and my nomad far more than i do my wing cuz there's thing i like better about them. like i don't have to shift the scooter and it gets 56 mpg. the nomad looks like i want a bike to look and once in awhile i like the v-twin rumble and feel. if you like your bike thats what counts.
Bummer Posted June 25, 2010 #30 Posted June 25, 2010 I think these numbers are generated by a drunk monkey pounding on a keyboard. I'd say you're pretty close. The ratings in question are the results of answers given by people who clicked on the "Rate this bike" link. if you like your bike thats what counts. And that, my friends, is the most important point of all.
