Guest PlaneCrazy Posted June 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2010 Does anyone know a part number or a source for a male plug that will fit the AUX DC output that is tied up beside the battery? I have a heated vest I want to get rigged up but the ends are different and I'd much rather splice the right style of plug on the vest then mod the bike's wiring. Thanks. kj5ix Posted June 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 24, 2010 If your vest is a Gerbing or Warm-n-Safe the battery side plug is available through them, and just add it to the terminals ( and fused )

I have a Gears Canada vest and I kept the battery harness from my old bike so I could hook that up if all else fails.
sadicarnot Posted June 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 24, 2010 Look at Eastern Beaver: they have a bunch of connectors. I bought the connectors for the tail light so I could add an LED license plate frame without cutting into the stock wires. Here is the page for what you are looking for: http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/Sealed/SM-MT/sm-mt.html
Guest PlaneCrazy Posted June 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 25, 2010 Thanks for the link! Now that I have some part numbers and brands, I think I may have a local source for those connectors. Going to check them out on Monday.
V7Goose Posted June 25, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 25, 2010 You might want to just take a look at this post in the tech library - you can simply tin the ends of the wire and use the cap on that plug like the plug you are looking for: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38187 Goose

I'd never just use tinned wire... I work with aircraft everyday and I'm a bit of a perfectionist with wiring and stuff. If I couldn't end up with the right hardware, then I'd just cut the stock one off and wire in an aircraft style one with enviro splices. I'd really like to have a couple of extra connectors for anything else I may use down the road. I also still need to hook the trickle charger connector to the battery by the end of this season, but no rush on that.
