I definitely would like to attend the MD on August 21st.

I have never been to one, so I don't know what to bring. I think my clutch will need to be looked at as well as maybe having my carbs synced. Do I need to preorder anything?

I"m soo confused.

First off, you will enjoy the MD. You will learn a lot, and meet some really great people. I hope you do make it.

Now your questions: you do not need anything for the carb sync. If you are experiencing issues like popping on deceleration, it will be good to talk about that first. You might want some vacuum caps. If you just want it to run smoother, no worries.

What do you mean by "clutch need to be looked at"? Is there a particular issue you are having? Depending on your answer, you might need some consumables or perhaps parts to have on hand. For example, if you have clutch slipping, you might need a new clutch spring. It takes a few days to get them in (I got mine in today!).

People will bring their projects with them. Very often there will be air horns installed, for example. If we know this, we can have some consumables like tape or connectors.

I have always found it useful to bring a camera to capture blackmail photos or ideas for "upgrades". Bringing a seat is a good idea, if possible. I tend to stand all the time and go home with sore feet.

In short, it is like a family reunion, only fun. :whistling:

Hope to see you!

Dave

Well I don't know if there is a connection, but my bike has always run with amsoil and about 200 miles ago I changed over to Rotella T6. The clutch feels like it has a very short release point right at the very end, It's ok in every gear except a little slippage taking off in 1st.

Also it feels like it idles at a lower rpm than before and I need to shift at a higher mph than before. I have an 06 with about 26k. It might just be a coincidence with the slippage, might just be time for a new clutch spring. Somebody had them on here for about $40.00 I think, Do you think it would be a good Idea to go ahead and get one? If I find that I don't need one at the MD, then I eventually will. Appreciate any input.

I'll try to make this. I should be due for an oil change by then, and I'm still on the lookout for a set of used aftermarket pipes. I've also been dealing with squeaky brakes!

Elder,

I know we didn't get to do the carbtune while you were here, we can make that happen @ this MD as I will be bringing my carbtune with me. I dont recall what your fluids looked like, after 4 years you might need a fluid change in the brakes and the clutch. A clutch upgrade shouldn't be necessary yet, unless the bike has pull a trailer a lot or been ridden in parades. If you want to do a clutch upgrade I would suggest getting the kit from PCW racing and be done with it. It's about a 30 minute job and works awsome

BTW Bring that crazy winger friend of yours, he should be a hoot!

I just ordered The clutch spring upgrade kit from skydoc. Not sure if I need it yet.

I will definitely be there, barring any unforeseen circumstances:thumbsup2:.

Squidley can show you how to do the carb tune and I will show you how to install the PCW kit. You may need to flush the fluid. Is the fluid in the resivor clear or brown?

Hows your brakes? Check those pads! We can show you how to change them out if nee ded. Nuttin to it. Ponch helped with my clutch change.

I''ll bring a couple of chairs, and some baked beans and a few brews.

Man, I wish I could make this one. I already have things going on that weekend, I have tried having maintenance days here and I get more folks from Houston and I do local folks. Maybe I can make the next one.

BRUMMPPP BUMP!!

BTW OWEN You are aware that I want another "test ride" on "our" bike. I think I fell in love with it at Squidley's:173:.

I've also got an idea about it and your better half that I want to bounce off you at the meet. I've put in for that Friday off so I don't have to work the night before. C YA!

By way of a bump, I'll mention what I might want to do at the MD.

  • As I mentioned on my trailer thread, I have had severe wear on the trailer tires. I'll have to change them before my next trip, AND have all'y'all (maybe not ALL'y'all :buttkick:) look to see if you can diagnose the vibration and wear (if it isn't figgered out by then). But is changing trailer tires do-able? I'd like to avoid buying new rims again, if possible.
  • Oh yeah, and my rear bike tire. Possible? My E3 has lasted a nice long time, but I reckon I ought not push it on a 3K trip.
  • I want to put on speed-bleeders. My clutch reservoir fluid is getting a brownish colour. It was fun watching it get darker as the trip went along. By "fun", I mean "worrisome". The last MD, someone had a super siphon... is it coming? I do have a Mighty-Vac that I can bring.

If the rear tire change is too ambitious, please say so. I need to get that done before the trip, and I only have a week following MD to do it. I'll make other arrangements.

I'll be bringing my lift adapter and DOT4.

Thom offered to bring his tire changer. We can always tire spoon them off and on if he doesn't. I'm sure we can get Squid to bring his bleeder. The air assist bleeder works better without speedbleeders.

I do not have a tire changer. It looks like we could have several tires to change. If Kreg is agreeable, I could pick his up and have it available. Heck, I could just empty his garage of anything useful! :missingtooth:

LOL well the changer is Brads, I just happen to have it anchored to the floor of the shop, I can bring it if needed, but not sure how it will work with out being mounted to the floor :confused24: any thing else that is needed I could bring in the trailer. ( notice I said IN the trailer and not ON the trailer ) LOL just let me know...
