It didnt happen all the time but travelling 70 mph it seemed like the engine dropped to a lower speed it even with the the cruise control it would kick off than i twist the throttle and Im back off running again

Gord the fella that owns my first 2nd gen was having troubles with his cruise it started like that.

 

It turned out to be the little spring in the switch got turned somehow. They just opened it up and put that spring back into place and all was well. It was the cancel button switch.
