...take the winter and buy some good protective riding gear!

Those of you who ride in jeans, T-shirt and a half helmet may want to rethink your riding attire. :whistling:

The amount of accidents posted here is disturbing. I'm not saying gear would have helped prevent any of them but proper gear may have lessened injuries.

Some are spending a lot of time blaming others for accidents and are looking to devices to add, petitions to sign but are we doing everything WE can do to minimize our injuries? Just cause it isn't a race bike doesn't mean we shouldn't wear good protective clothing & gear.

New Enough has some good stuff or visit your local dealer and support his efforts. :happy34:

Ain't got started yet. But I had Good Helmet, Leather Jacket, Boots and Gloves on when I went down and had very little rash. A few other problems caused by the inpact with the truck pics of my helmet were on here. Not pretty. Full-Faced for me from now on along with the rest.

That is some good advice. I have both warm weather and cold weather safety gear. But I am guilty of not always wearing my warm weather gear for that short trip to Walmart or the grocery store. And I know better than to do that. So my New Year's resolution, beginning 10 weeks early, is to not get on my RSV without wearing the proper equipment. Thanks for the reminder.

Riding season is never over for me! :D Even when I lived outside of Boston, MA I used to ride my KLR year 'round. I wouldn't ride for a fews days after snow though. I'd wait for the roads to clear.

The gist of my post was that folks need to gear up. For those people who don't ride year 'round, this can be a good time to get great deals on riding apparel from your local dealer. Sales are slower in the winter and deals can be had for next year's riding season.

I'll go out on a limb and say that those folks who aren't the weekend warrior type and ride year around and everyday, like myself, already have a closet full of gear. But we're still moving into the season when it is a great time to buy. ;)

And to you 1st Gen owners. :whistling: My "sportbike" comment was that sportbike riders (real ones, not SQUIDS) typically wear full leathers. Cruiser riders don't. Guess it isn't fashionable or something. I don't wear full leathers anymore (no more sportbike) but I still wear fully armored gear head-to-toe. :)

Those helmets are a good thing taint' they!:stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot: and let me stir it real good.....!! Okay I am sorry.......acting up again........no I'm not!!

I also am guilty of riding with a half helmet in the summer...all the way up to about ThanksGiving time. Then I switch to a full helmet. Hey when I had my extreme and spectacular accident when I was young and dumb.....a helmet saved my life. My whole bike tumbled end over end and I had a crush hole clear down into the foam........somehow the front side of the right fork hit me in the head. Must have been good for me......:rotf::rotf:I seem to have a little sense now.......trying to figure out how to put a fan in my jacket too........ did see a full helmet the other day......had some actual functional vents in it.........most of them do not function well. I may have to get one of those........this is something everyone should have on their minds all the time......well not all the time......we do need to enjoy life and out run a few first Gens...........Kit

Here in Indiana most of the riders wear shorts, flipflops and sunglasses and nothing else. I guess my jeans, T-shirt and half helmet are overdoing it, huh? We do have leathers and armored mesh jackets but we're definitely in the minority.
