Give it some gas and it runs fine. It runs fine downd the road no missing or back fireing. could this be the diaphram in the carb or could it be electical. where can I find a service for it.I have been reading alot of the threads on this sight and sure helps I am glad I joined. thanks Motorhead 704
Squeeze Posted June 20, 2010 #2 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Sounds like it's developing a lean Condition when the Bike is getting hotter. That could be either a Vacuum Leak on the the Carb Boots or the Fuel Pilot Jets are somewhat clogged. Take something flammable, like Brake Cleaner or Starter Spray and carefully spray it around the Carb Boots when the Bike is on Idle, one a a Time. If the RpM rises, there's a Vacuum leak. A Sea Foam Cure might be in Order anyway, just because of the unknown Condition of the Carbs. Edited June 21, 2010 by Squeeze Typo's LOTS of them ....
Marcarl Posted June 21, 2010 #3 Posted June 21, 2010 That's mostly because these bikes are not for sitting at stop lights,,,, avoid them like the plague,,,,, they need an open highway to run,, and run,,, and runnnnnnnn. Actually, listen to Squeeze, he's usually dead on.
motorhead704 Posted June 22, 2010 Author #4 Posted June 22, 2010 thanks for the info squeeze I checked for vac. leak nothing I sprayed the carbs with a can of cleaner this seems to have worked. the idling seemed to have cleared up.I will be rideing this weekend so I will be able to tell more . thanks motorhead:fingers-crossed-emo
Squeeze Posted June 22, 2010 #5 Posted June 22, 2010 Spraying Carb Cleaner in all the Ports you can find might not be a bad Idea for the "Air"-Side of the Carbs, but you need to extend your Effort to the fuel Side of the Carbs. Put some Cleaner into the Fuel, be it Sea Foam or Injection Cleaner, whatever good Brand Product you can find might help cleaning out the small Passages and Pilot Fuel Jets.
