tim44 Posted June 19, 2010 #1 Posted June 19, 2010 Hey all, I am thinking about trying the Kenda Kruz tires on my 03. I used them on a 04 Suzuki I had and the were great. I know they have had mixed results on the 1st Gen bikes. My question for you all is has anyone used them on a 2nd Gen? Thanks all for your vast store of knowledge.
1BigDog Posted June 19, 2010 #2 Posted June 19, 2010 The 2nd gen is a very heavy bike. While I never ran the Kenda tires I have also heard mixed reviews about them. I wouldnt expect the mileage from them that you would get from an Avon Venom tire, which is what I run. Kenda is just what it is...a low priced tire. Get the Avons and be happy.
Bob Myers Posted June 20, 2010 #3 Posted June 20, 2010 For a lightweight bike like our Vulcans they are really good. Mine has about 8k miles on it, Tina's has less than 1k. Measuring the tread(rear tire) there is less than 1/64 difference. Had not heard the cons about using on a 1st gen, actually was going to order one for my 87, the Dunlop rear has over 18k on it
MiCarl Posted June 20, 2010 #4 Posted June 20, 2010 The Kruz is not available in a 150 for the front of a 2nd gen. I know some people prefer a 130 anyhow, which is where you'd have to go with the Kruze.
tim44 Posted June 21, 2010 Author #5 Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks for the replies. Motorcycle superstore shows they have the correct size Kenda Kruz K673 tires for the 2nd Gen bikes. I was so impressed with them on the Suzuki Volusia that I had, that I thought I would ask if anyone had tried them. At this point I am thinking I will wait til someone else tries them as my funds are kind of tight and I can't afford to replace tires twice. Ride safe ya'all.

Looks like they've finally added a 150/80-16 front to their lineup. My supplier shows it too. I'd checked for someone about six weeks ago and it didn't seem to exist. Sorry for the bad information. Last year was the first time I took my wife to Maintenance Day. That longer high speed run on a hot day fully loaded was the end of my Metzeler ME880. This year I did it with Kenda Kruz and added a trailer to the load. Tomorrow I'll be going over the tire to see how it held up.
rburkeen Posted June 21, 2010 #7 Posted June 21, 2010 I have the Kenda Kruz K673 on the rear of my 05 venture with over 14000 miles and still going, it rides just as good as any tire i've had (E3,Michelin,D404) at Half the price. I'm not going to say that it's a better tire then all the rest, but it's a good tire and I've had no trouble with it. (will more likely replace it with another one.) just my Rodney:big-grin-emoticon:
