Puckman123 Posted June 18, 2010 #1 Posted June 18, 2010 I have read a couple of posts about cleaning the contacts in the kill switch. Can someone explain how to get at them. I split the housing and see a white block under the red switch, does the red switch pop off the top of the housing and the block pull out to get at the contacts? Thanks..
Yammer Dan Posted June 18, 2010 #2 Posted June 18, 2010 Been a while since I was in mine and it is a 1st Gen but watch for little springs and balls in those things. I remember doing a lot of hunting. Just be careful and somebody that knows 2nd Gens will be in here before long.
Condor Posted June 18, 2010 #3 Posted June 18, 2010 Usually the only way the kill switch can go bad is they aren't used.. a use it or loose it situation... and the contacts oxidize, or it's worn out... I've never seen a worn out switch.. I'd suggest putting it back together and going down to your local Radio Shack to pick up some contact cleaner spray. Spray the 'H' out of it and work the switch back and forth. Should take care of the problem, if it's dirty. If it's worn out I've seen entire right hand assemblies on Ebay. Just because, what's the switch not doing??
