How many 2nd Gens are there in North America?

Does any body have any idea how many 2nd Generation RSV's were actually produced for sale in North America?

World Wide?

How many are still in service?

For being such a dependaple good looking motorcycle I sure don't see many around.

Any guesses, facts, opinions?

Back when I was looking at buying a Venture, a couple of dealers told me that Yamaha made about one per dealer per year. Now I dont know if thats world wide, or USA or what.

 

And I dont know the actual numbers of Yamaha dealers in the world or USA either...But I think I heard or read somewhere it was around 5000 or so. That seems low, if were talking worldwide, but it seems high if were talking USA...

 

However, it would seem to be about right, since any average Yamaha dealership seems to get one or 2 per year, and once those are sold, its kindve difficult to find them.

 

Certainly the numbers are low compared to the touring bikes from Harley-Davidson and Honda.

Unfortunately until they bring the bike into the 2000's they aren't going to move a lot of volume.

I have seen an amazing amount of them lately. I'm gonna guess and say I have seen 10 on the road in the last month.

I'll bet that companies have to report sales figures to US Dept of Transportation.

 

I just sent them an email asking that very question. Lets see what they say...

 

The web page says allow 4 days for an answer.

It might be hard to nail down a figure since they are still making 2nd gens.

I would be curious to know all of those facts and figures on the 1st gens.
