sadicarnot Posted June 13, 2010 #1 Posted June 13, 2010 I have a question on what to do with the saddle bags when they are off the bike. This stems from one of my bags flopping over and scratching the lid when I opened it. It slid on the cardboard I put down to prevent this very thing from happening. In any Case I think I saw a post with a PVC rack to hold the bags but I am unable to find the post. What is the consensus on what to do with the bags when you take them off the bike. I have been putting them in the living room on the carpeting but it would be nice to have some sort of rack to hold them. David
sadicarnot Posted June 13, 2010 Author #2 Posted June 13, 2010 Link to the thread popped up after I posted. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49343 Has anyone tried to make the stands in the post? and if so can you share some measurements? David
ediddy Posted June 13, 2010 #3 Posted June 13, 2010 I had thought about making a rack for cleaning. I had in mind using 2X2's and using carpet to cover the rack so the bags wouldn't get scratched. But I've never got around to it.
sadicarnot Posted June 13, 2010 Author #4 Posted June 13, 2010 Found this listing on ebay for a Harley Davidson holder http://ow.ly/1XQ1R http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harley-Davidson-Touring-Saddlebag-Holder-Saddlebag-/170497035784?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b26a4e08#ht_600wt_985
Bummer Posted June 13, 2010 #5 Posted June 13, 2010 Looks like pvc pipe. A dozen 90s and ten Ts, plus a stick or two should do the trick. Maybe some rubber pipe insulation or hose to cover the parts the bags sit on. $20 or so at your local home improvement store.
