BoomerCPO Posted June 9, 2010 #1 Posted June 9, 2010 Is there any valid reason why I can't bypass the fuel pump with a gravity feed setup and leave it like that for good? Midnight Venture-2006. Boomer.....still sitting and fuming over this darn problem.....
Kregerdoodle Posted June 9, 2010 #2 Posted June 9, 2010 it will probably only run on 2 cyl. and when you get on it, it will starve for gas, spend 40.00 at he auto parts store and get you a mr.Gasket fuel pump....
Yammer Dan Posted June 9, 2010 #3 Posted June 9, 2010 Well.. No faster than that 2nd Gen is going to be going........ Good question Boomer. I have thought about that because 2nd Gen feeds different than 1st Gen. I can't see why not. It is all Gravity flow with them but maybe if you were running hard it could not keep up with demand?? I would think it could be done. You want a little West Virginia "White Lightning" for the next time you try to chase Kenny?? Make that 2nd Gen think it was a 1st...

Bubber is shipping me a spare fuel pump tomorrow morning ! I still would like to have just a gravity-feed fuel setup tho....heck the big bikes ran for years with that before they started using these electric junk piles. Boomer.....

BuckShot Posted June 9, 2010 #6 Posted June 9, 2010 You need a fast guardian angle like the one's the 1st gen's got. LOL
Kregerdoodle Posted June 9, 2010 #7 Posted June 9, 2010 Ponch can answer better then I, but I don`t remember him having very good luck with that plan... Squidley Posted June 10, 2010 #9 Posted June 10, 2010 Unfortunately Chief it doesn't run well on the gravity feed method. I would talk with the dealer about getting a replacement pump and installing it yourself. Or do the Mr. Gasket pump like Ponch and Dave Zipcode did.

I'm going to see also what the Yammi Dealer in Baton Rouge has to say about giving me a new pump. It that gets pooched up I'll go with a after-market pump like Dave Zipcode has posted about. Don't know if I'll have the scoot ready to go by next week for the run to Bogalusa and do the ride with you folks up to Don's. Dang this will be the 3rd year in a row my plans have been pooched for going to Ohio......sigh. Thanks for the info Brad....I'll take your word any day my friend. Boomer....who sez HI to Lonna too!!

Boomer.....still sitting and fuming over this darn problem..... Well, here's my 2 cents..... I believe if you take the thing a ma jig and twist it a little then screw it back over the whatcha ma call it, then fasten it down with a little goo it will help. Next your going to want to take the doo hickey on the lower left side and with a screw driver (doesn't matter, Phillips or Flat head) attach it to the thing a ma bop located under the coil spring. Now that you've done that....the most important step is to grab one of those pygmies you keep yakkin about and bungee cord him to your luggage rack with a gremlin bell attached to his you know what. Good Luck! (If I had pix of the procedure I would have posted them, sorry!)
Kregerdoodle Posted June 10, 2010 #12 Posted June 10, 2010 :rotfl: haha I got a good ( or should I say) Scary visual of that ..... Well, here's my 2 cents..... flb_78 Posted June 10, 2010 #13 Posted June 10, 2010 I know that the Roadstars have an electric fuel pump on them and people were removing them, but they had to change some parts and readjust the carb. http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/163/1/
Ponch Posted June 10, 2010 #14 Posted June 10, 2010 Chief, try it and see what happens. We all want to know if yer pygmie's can push the venture at freeway speeds. http://spaceandtime.files.wordpress.com/2006/05/marmoset.jpg I tried to bypass the pump on the road, but didn't hook up the hose right. If you hook it up like Kent describes, it will most likely get you by temporarily. I would use a pump for max performance. I bet the au'natural method will suffer under peak load.
