Midrsv Posted June 19, 2010 Author #26 Posted June 19, 2010 Ok, Finally, after delayed shipment and wrong shipments I've finally received the seat. It seems very well made. I put it on tonight and rode a few miles. It is different. A little firmer and it pushes me forward about an inch more than I like. If I can get used to that it will be a keeper. Attached are some photos. heartofdixie Posted June 19, 2010 #27 Posted June 19, 2010 Dennis, I hope you like it as much as I like mine. It's much more comfortable to me than the stock seat. Since Mustang has no plans to make a cover for the Venture passenger backrest, I got them to sell me a couple of yards of the vinyl they use for the seats. Unless anybody on this board knows of a someone that can make a cover, I'll find somebody locally that can. David

Dennis When u say forward, do you mean your whole body or is it the backrest leaning your upper body? I'm still struggling with my tailbone and was wondering about this seat!

I'm still struggling with my tailbone and was wondering about this seat! While the seat looks like it is shaped similarly to the stock seat, there is a definite ridge at the back and it causes you to set more forward, about and inch or more. The effective shape is very similar to this Mustang Tour Deluxe seat. The backrest can be adjusted out of the way. Dennis
Midrsv Posted June 20, 2010 Author #30 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) I just spent about 5 hours on the seat today. I think it is better than the stock seat but I was ready to get off. I don't hurt in my backside like I did with the stock seat. I need to ride it some more this week before I decide to keep it for sure. I'm leaning towards keeping it. Oldslow Posted June 20, 2010 #31 Posted June 20, 2010 Your obviously not thrilled. They do require a break in. If you had to guess, what would you say about the seat in regards to folks that get sore tailbones from the stock unit?
Midrsv Posted June 27, 2010 Author #32 Posted June 27, 2010 My wife and I rode about 6 hours yesterday and it was her first opportunity to check the seat out real well. While she liked the stock seat she said that the Mustang didn't cause her any discomfort. For me I still got tired of sitting on it but I didn't have the pain as with the stock seat. So I think we'll keep the Mustang. Dennis

Bobbie likes the stock, but we both feel like the seats break down way to soon after riding a couple hours. So now I am wondering whether to do the Russell Day long or the Mustang? :confused24:
Oldslow Posted June 27, 2010 #34 Posted June 27, 2010 I just ordered the Mustang...the dealer will let me return it if I'm unhappy.
jfoster Posted June 27, 2010 #35 Posted June 27, 2010 Their seats are shallow for the RSTD, by the looks its the same for the RSV...I had one for my RSTD and it puts all you weight on your hip bones mainly because there is so little seat to actually sit on. Maybe their seat model is 150lbs with a 32" waist.
Midrsv Posted June 27, 2010 Author #36 Posted June 27, 2010 Sleeperhawk, if you try a Mustang and order directly from them they give you 10 days to try it out.
Midrsv Posted July 14, 2010 Author #37 Posted July 14, 2010 I thought I would follow-up with more impressions on the Mustang seat. Overall I'm satisfied with it. It is a bit harder than the pillow tops and that's OK. One thing I discovered by accident is that for me, the seat is more comfortable without the backrest. Being that I fill up the whole seat, I found that without the backrest I sat further back whick provided a bit more support under my legs and was more comfortable. The backrest causes me to move about an inch forward and it really changes the comfort level. While I liked the backrest, I like the seat better without it. Dennis
Midrsv Posted July 15, 2010 Author #39 Posted July 15, 2010 Yes, it's adjustable but with it all the way back it is still in the way. Dennis
Oldslow Posted July 21, 2010 #40 Posted July 21, 2010 You must be a big guy to have it all the way back. I just got my seat and moved it all the way forward and I could still use a tad more. Are you sure you got it in the slot correctly? Anyhow I haven't tried it out on the road yet. Did yours come with mounting nuts? The old nuts don't fit! And they didn't include any. Pretty cheap for a $700 seat!
