There is a BBQ place called Moosehead up 58 near Amherst. Probably about 15 miles.

The best I've found in NW La and east Tx, has been in Mansfield La. on La. 513 on the south side of town (J and J's). Small little shop with bout 4 chairs. Always consistent meat and sauce and the best potatoe salad I've ever had.
