aharbi Posted June 5, 2010 #1 Posted June 5, 2010 I would like to mount yellow LED "trunk side lights" to my trunk as additional turn signals. As shown in the following picture on one of the Texas folks bike. My question is how did you get the wire between the arm rest and trunk. I have never taken either off. Since It looks like I'm not going to be riding for most of the summer due to injury (broke my tail bone) and can't sit down I may as well farkel the bike. Thanks ps. To Ponch. Where did you purchase the LED replacement bulbs for your bike? I have spent over $50 on LED bulbs at Autozone/NAPA and am very disappointed in them. They are no brighter than stock incandescent bulbs. Except for passing lights and headlight I plan to replace every light (even dash) with LEDS. Thanks again. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/P6271197.jpg
Ponch Posted June 5, 2010 #2 Posted June 5, 2010 Art, That V7Goose's Venture in the pic. The wire should fit between the two pieces I believe. Here's where I got my lights. http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_dynamic_clusters.htm http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/3FunctionSmFINAL.gif
aharbi Posted June 6, 2010 Author #3 Posted June 6, 2010 Thanks Ponch. Looks like the site I was hunting for the LEDs. About the side lights on the trunk. I can see the wire going between the arm rest and the trunk. But how do you get the two apart to get the wire between them?
Seaking Posted June 6, 2010 #5 Posted June 6, 2010 I have wires going down between mine as well.. and it's easy to do without having to pull them apart. Before installing the light or equipment, hold the length of wire vertically in front of the gap. With the wire soaped up (as a lubricant that washes away) you can slide it up and down into the gap quite easily. And then with a thin piece of plastic, push it all the way in deep. I made a bit of a stopper out of old rubber to wedge in there to keep the wires in place.. Its not a hard process or time consuming, it's a lot easier than it looks..
