Godlover Posted May 28, 2010 #1 Posted May 28, 2010 I removed my tank and when I pulled the gas line off - the brass sleeve going into the the shutoff came out instead of the tube coming off the sleeve. Can I just push it back into the shutoff valve or do I need to do some repair here? HELP!! It is such a nice day and my day off so I want to ride!!
RandyR Posted May 28, 2010 #2 Posted May 28, 2010 Mark, ouch I'm going to have to buy a new petcock for my MM too..... $24 from Yamaha for a complete assy. I suppose it could be braised if taken off and all fuel dried off it ..... RandyR
V7Goose Posted May 28, 2010 #3 Posted May 28, 2010 This has happened to a few others, although not particularly common. You should be able to just tap it back into place with a hammer (gently), and go about your business. I doubt if it will leak at all, but you really have nothing to lose. If it leaks, you just turn the gas back off and you are right back where you started. Goose
Kregerdoodle Posted May 28, 2010 #4 Posted May 28, 2010 that happened to mine also, put a small amount of pipe dope on it and tapped it back in..works great
Godlover Posted May 28, 2010 Author #5 Posted May 28, 2010 tapped it in - seems to be fine - I'll keep an eye on it!
pa_don Posted May 30, 2010 #6 Posted May 30, 2010 Same thing ... tapped it back in and no problems. The gasket eventaullay started to leak and di a rebuild but never had any more problems with the brass fitting! pa_don
