Yup to all of those reasons that I ran a rear on the front when I ran a CT on the back.

But my other reason is that the HD tires, (dunlop) front vs rear, the rear not only has lots more tread, but a wider whitewall.

and I LOVE my WWs!

Now, the reason that next spring when I put on another CT, I will not put a rear on the front, cause it just lasts too long, and cupped badly at 30,000 when I changed out the CT. The rear on the front still had lots of tread, so being a rear anyways, I put it on my XS650 bobber, on the rear. So that worked out well for me.

I run a rear on the front of my trike for just that reason, it has more tread and lasts longer. It also has a higher weight rating which I like. The more rubber on the road gives me better steering as well.
