E-Fishin-C Posted May 28, 2010 #1 Posted May 28, 2010 Rear tire....150/90B15.80H This has a air pressure capacity of 50lbs 150/90B15.74V This one 42 lbs???? Both tires have the same specifications
Leadwolf56 Posted May 28, 2010 #2 Posted May 28, 2010 Charlie, The H rated tire has a higher load rating, the V rated has a higher speed rating. Get the 80H, it's better for heavier loads and pulling trailer.
naturbar Posted May 28, 2010 #3 Posted May 28, 2010 Rear tire....150/90B15.80H This has a air pressure capacity of 50lbs 150/90B15.74V This one 42 lbs???? Both tires have the same specifications just put on my second Venom X AM42 150/90HB15 last week, mine has 50lbs. max rating. bought it from SW Moto ($142 w/no ship charge) - they are a good place to deal with and give great customer service.
gibvel Posted May 28, 2010 #4 Posted May 28, 2010 H is a lower speed rated but higher weight rated tire. V is a higher speed rated but lower weight rated tire. From what Goose says the H will last quite a bit longer as well.
RandyR Posted May 28, 2010 #5 Posted May 28, 2010 Here's what Avon tech support said to me when I asked them. From: "Fahey, Sukoshi" sfahey@avonmoto.com To: steyrhahn@yahoo.com Dear Randy, The V rated tire is designed for the Yamaha V Max. It has a stickier compound so it gets a bit less mileage and has less of a load rating as that is not as crucial on this bike as it would be on a tour deluxe. V speed is 149 mph vs H rated which is 130 mph. The handling of the tires is the same for agility and easy turn in. At lower speeds load could be quite similar but I don’t have test results for that so I can’t quote you anything. For your bike I would stick with the H rated tire, especially since the front is H rated so you have a match. Best regards, Sukoshi Fahey (Ms.) Avon Motorcycle Tyres North America 4600 Prosper Dr., Stow, OH 44224 800-624-7470 x 3135
Scooter Bob Posted May 28, 2010 #6 Posted May 28, 2010 Rear tire....150/90B15.80H This has a air pressure capacity of 50lbs I am changing my first one of these out today. It could probably go another couple k yet, but I have a 4k trip starting next week. This tire already has 15k on it, and you bet, I'm putting on another one. Later, Scooter Bob
