Front fork bottoming out....help!

i'm new to the Venture world so please be patient. i just bought an 87 venture 1300 that had been sitting for years. it only has 8500 miles on it. the guy i bought it from said he had the local yamaha shop replace the fork oil. however, the slightest curb or difference in the road seems to bottom out the front forks. what do you all suggest? so far i love my venture!!

First of all welcome

Now put the bike on the center stand and turn the key to acc (1 click) now with the class controller on the right side fairing push the front button and air up the shocks I run mine on medium

What Jeff said but if it does not hold the air then you have a leak. You can repair it by finding it and fixing it, or the easier solution is to put progressive springs in the forks. Then you do not need the air.

 

Not that expensive, and easy to install. Any problem ask more questions, you will get the answers.

Are you sure the fork is bottoming out or does it just sound like it is. If your steering head is loose any little bump will cause a front end noise that may make you think you are bottoming out.

If your dash is a bit loose it will also make an gog aweful noise when you hit a bump. I ended up putting a piece of foam under each corner of the dash. Quieted it right up.

I put in Progresive last year and never added air since, the ride couldn't be better...... best $65.00 spent.

Before installing the progressive springs, I ran my class on high and avoided being on the brakes when I hit a bump.
