I'm trying to buy an owners manual for my 1989 venture royale and the site is asking me if it is a XVC13DW or XVC13DWC model--anyone know the difference and how can I tell the model I have????:doh:

The 'C' is a California model. Refers to the carb (smog) requirements. May be nothing more than the required decals. Either will work for you.

site says it cant indentify Vin#--that sux!---typed in JVA1NLEOXKAO28509 and JYA1NLEOXKAO28509 thinking the V might be a Y and got the same results---"can't identify":doh:

The 0's are numeral 0's, not letter 0's.

It is a "Y" and your "O"s should be "0"s (zeroes).

 

The correct VIN is JYA1NLE0XKA028509

 

Comes back as 1989 Yamaha XVZ13D (the D is Royale). The VIN decoder does not return the year letter (W on yours) or the California emissions designator ©.

 

So the motorcycle in question is an XVZ13DW or XVZ13DWC.
