Iowa Guy Posted May 25, 2010 #1 Posted May 25, 2010 I have bought an 05 Kawasaki Concourse and want to put a throttle lock on it because it doesn't have cruise control like my 89 RSV. What is the best to buy?
Venturous Randy Posted May 25, 2010 #2 Posted May 25, 2010 I don't know brand names, but I use the one on my 83 all the time. I did have to do some work on it as it was not wanting to latch good. I tweaked on it a little and it works better then it ever did. RandyA
Batman47 Posted May 25, 2010 #3 Posted May 25, 2010 I have Flip a lever on both my bikes , easy to install ,out of the way , like it real well
uechi kid Posted May 25, 2010 #4 Posted May 25, 2010 This is a real good one but it's very expensive. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=108&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=296&product_ID=9577&sblid_name=BrakeAway_Products_Motorcycle_Cruise_Control_for_Suzuki_Boulevard_M95
SteveP Posted May 25, 2010 #5 Posted May 25, 2010 This is a real good one but it's very expensive. I have a "BrakeAway Crusie Control" on my Suzuki Volusia. It is a bit pricey, but it is also the next best thing to an actual crusie control. Two thumbs up. This is the manufacturer's website: http://www.brakeawayproducts.com
fisheyes Posted May 25, 2010 #6 Posted May 25, 2010 if you just want something functional your local bike shop should carry something like this for about the same price or order it online. $35.00 http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?store_code=CST&screen=PROD&product_code=16022
RedRider Posted May 25, 2010 #7 Posted May 25, 2010 www.throttlemeister.com. Top quality product built in Milwaukee, WI (not by Hardly Davidson). My Dad has one on his BMW and it is a piece of artwork and works perfectly. Depending on type, it will cost $115 or $125. It replaces your end weight on the throttle. RR
SevenFour Posted May 25, 2010 #8 Posted May 25, 2010 I have the BreakaWay on my Suzuki Boulevard. It is very nice. Smooth and a feature that I especially like that some of the less expensive ones don't have is that the front break trips the lock to the release position. Good luck on your search. Mel
Guest oldroadstar Posted May 26, 2010 #9 Posted May 26, 2010 Go to www.concours.org for suggestions. You can go as simple as a Cat O-ring for a couple bucks. I used that and it works well. Vista-cruise (not the universal one) works well also.
Condor Posted May 26, 2010 #10 Posted May 26, 2010 There's a couple of different styles that you can find on Ebay. There's a new one #220607068769 that I haven't seen before, but it looks like it could be a winner. I have a NEP on the '83 that I picked up off Ebay. Cheap, simple and effective. The type with the bar that spans the controls is a joke.
dynodon Posted May 26, 2010 #11 Posted May 26, 2010 I bought the BreakAway for my wife's Shadow cruiser. Beautiful, works great, but a PITA to install/adjust and keep adjusted. For my son's bike, I got him this one: http://www.jcwhitney.com/cruise-controls/p2010944.jcwx Simple cheap and effective and easy to adjust.
BradT Posted May 27, 2010 #12 Posted May 27, 2010 www.throttlemeister.com. Top quality product built in Milwaukee, WI (not by Hardly Davidson). RR Naugh-T has this one on her Victory. I tried it works and looks good, you do not even know the bike has a throttle lock. Decent price compared to some. Brad
Snaggletooth Posted May 27, 2010 #13 Posted May 27, 2010 I picked up a Univeral Vista from a local bike shop for $35.00. www.soundoffrec.com Simple install. Easy to use and rock solid lock.
