A guy in my CDC riding group rides a ZERO... no motor-generator... so no engine braking action of any kind. That would take some real getting used to.

And only going for $9,995. I was expecting much more. After the rebates and such. it could be quite worth it.

 

I wonder how much more efficient it could be if they went with all LED bulbs and a belt drive?

Met Leno at the Aprilia/Moto Guzzi dealer meeting in October. He's a big endorser of Aprilia, but will endorse just about anything for the right price. For some reason, he's much more into sport bikes than cruisers, a little strange for a big guy like him, but to each his own I guess. Still had a good time seeing him do his entire stand up routine surrounded by motorcycles.

I think the EV market in the U.S. is on a much slower track in terms of overall acceptance of electric vehicles in the marketplace, despite the "green movement", but it's here to stay. Electric powered street legal cars (or LSV's), motorcycles, hunting ATV's (buggies), are either already here or will be in the next few years. But you are right - - it's the battery technology that is driving it, and it's just not there yet as far as I'm concerned.

It's neat but a sixty mile range with a four hour recharge time would be a deal breaker for me. I doubt going cross country for 30 bucks. Imagine how long it would take you to have to stop every sixty miles for a four hour charge. You'd end up spending a fortune in motel bills.

I think it would work as a comuter bike for someone who has a short commute and can plug in at work....

The Wife and I spent the afternoon racing through town on these , they get about 30 miles to a charge which is pretty good in a small town , The Wife rides her to work everyday . I may start doing it too , it will save me 11.00 a week in gas money . tomorrow morning it is going to be 40% f. so I'll have to ware leathers and a helmet ,------- Ya Rite , the Lincoln has a heater !!

6-9000 buys a gen 1 and about ten years of gas and maint. electric is coming but not until battery performance increases quite a bit. I for one could use one on my daily commute and get free electricity at work but the economics aren't there yet

I'm still not moved. Unless they come up with a long distant electric, they'll never catch on.... unless we run out of fossil fuel. Quoting a coast to coast cost of $30 bucks is ridiculous if it can only go 60 miles between 4 hour charges. Jay may be impressed... I'm not...

If they can double the range it would be a viable commute bike. Other wise it's just a novelty.

It's easy to say negative things about anything really, but I think it's great that Americans are still coming up with new inventions, and actually building something. This country became great by being forward thinking and leading the pack.

 

If we give up, sit on our butts, stay the same and let China build everything we buy, we're not going to last much longer.
