awsmsrv Posted May 24, 2010 #1 Posted May 24, 2010 OK. I've added some red flexible LED strips to the chrome pieces behind the saddlebags on my 2nd Gen Venture to augment my brake lights, but, I can't get them to work. I know the strips work because when I connect them directly to the battery, they work. I tried wiring them to the yellow wire (brake) & a black ground wire to no avail. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.
Hummingbird Posted May 24, 2010 #2 Posted May 24, 2010 don't want to sound like a smart a$$ but the first thing I would do is check for power at your selected source with a test light. If you have none, and I suspect you don't, use another ground. If no power then, check fuse, replace and start over. also - are you doing this with the key on ?
brewser23 Posted May 24, 2010 #3 Posted May 24, 2010 Have you tried switching the led wires around? I had the same problem when I put a set on my TD for extra running lights. Just switched the wires around so that the ground was connected to the negative wire and the positve was connected to the power supply.

Ditto, polarity is a must on LED lights and like stated, make sure you have the proper voltage on your wire. RandyA
awsmsrv Posted May 24, 2010 Author #5 Posted May 24, 2010 also - are you doing this with the key on ? Yes, key is on. Have you tried switching the led wires around? Thanks, I'll try that. Seems odd, if this works, that directly to the battery would work the other way. I'll let you guys know my results tomorrow when I can try it. Thanks.

awsmsrv Posted May 26, 2010 Author #7 Posted May 26, 2010 Thanks guys. Reversed the wires & they work! I'll try to get some pics up at a later date.
