So sad to hear this. My God hold Leslie in his arms and give Gary and their boys strength. My prayers are with Gary and his family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Yes and please I don't want to hear anything about how rough she's gonna have it "living with this for the rest of her life".

At least she is living while someone else is dead, apparently through her negligence.-Jack

Why does the word "cellphone" jump into my head? Although it could have been anyone of any age at this point.

I just received a phone call informing me that Gary and Leslie were in a bike accident down in Ohio. The only detail I have is Leslie didn't make it and that Gary is in the hospital down there ...I'll let you know more as I do. Keep them in you prayers please.

This is my worst nightmare; that I survive and my rider doesn't. No, my worst would be the same result and it was my own fault.

However, it was at 4:30pm that the wreck occurred. Another mid-day wreck. Did he run a modulator?

I am NOT saying the outcome would have been any different, but I am saying I swear by mine. I can see the idiots who I just KNOW are going to pull out in front of me become memorized by the cycling light.

It may not have helped them out. If that driver was busy yapping on her cellphone rockets shooting out with spinners wouldn't have made a difference. But maybe, just maybe, it can help someone else.

During the daylight hours the motorcycle used to be the only headlight on the road. Now we are lost in a sea of DRL's. I bought mine after meeting a line of cars one morning and not seeing a co-worker riding with them until I was almost past her. I run the brightest damn light I can, on high beam, with the modulator. I encourage you to do the same.

Yes, actually Gary does run a modulator on his MRSV.

You are right, I wonder if there was a cell phone envolved.

If she had only payed attention and stopped at the stop sign this tragedy would have been prevented.

How sad.

Thanks to everybody for their thoughts and prayers. This is Gary's son Jeff. I read about this thread in an article with the Windsor Star and thought I should check it out. I just wanted to thank everybody and give you an update. My dad is in intensive care. He's banged up pretty bad but everything important is still working. He's on a lot of drugs and sleeps most of the time. We haven't been able to have a conversation yet, and he won't be able to remember anything at this point anyway.

As far as the accident itself goes, the girl did not actually run the stop sign. She stopped, saw the bike, but thought she saw the right turn signal on, as well as the modulating headlight. She turned left and my dad didn't have enough time to stop. She wasn't on a phone or drunk or anything like that. She just made a very terrible decision to make the turn.

He is getting better and my family appreciates all of the support.

Jeff, thanks for posting. It has been my pleasure to meet your mom and dad several times when they came to Michigan for one of our lunches. The last was just two weeks ago. While your loss is great, I feel a loss as well as your mom was a wonderful lady. I am at a loss to offer any more than that,
