At least she is living while someone else is dead, apparently through her negligence.-Jack Why does the word "cellphone" jump into my head? Although it could have been anyone of any age at this point.
nance56 Posted October 19, 2007 #110 Posted October 19, 2007 We are so sorry to hear this. Our hearts and prayers go out to Gary and his family. Please let us know if anything can be done to help out. God be with you and yours.

The only detail I have is Leslie didn't make it and that Gary is in the hospital down there ...I'll let you know more as I do. Keep them in you prayers please. This is my worst nightmare; that I survive and my rider doesn't. No, my worst would be the same result and it was my own fault. However, it was at 4:30pm that the wreck occurred. Another mid-day wreck. Did he run a modulator? I am NOT saying the outcome would have been any different, but I am saying I swear by mine. I can see the idiots who I just KNOW are going to pull out in front of me become memorized by the cycling light. It may not have helped them out. If that driver was busy yapping on her cellphone rockets shooting out with spinners wouldn't have made a difference. But maybe, just maybe, it can help someone else. During the daylight hours the motorcycle used to be the only headlight on the road. Now we are lost in a sea of DRL's. I bought mine after meeting a line of cars one morning and not seeing a co-worker riding with them until I was almost past her. I run the brightest damn light I can, on high beam, with the modulator. I encourage you to do the same.

Yama Mama Posted October 19, 2007 #114 Posted October 19, 2007 You are right, I wonder if there was a cell phone envolved. If she had only payed attention and stopped at the stop sign this tragedy would have been prevented. How sad. Peggy
MikeM8560 Posted October 20, 2007 #115 Posted October 20, 2007 My prayerers go out to Garys family and friends. 16 is just to young to be driving solo.
Gary N. Posted October 20, 2007 #116 Posted October 20, 2007 Thanks to everybody for their thoughts and prayers. This is Gary's son Jeff. I read about this thread in an article with the Windsor Star and thought I should check it out. I just wanted to thank everybody and give you an update. My dad is in intensive care. He's banged up pretty bad but everything important is still working. He's on a lot of drugs and sleeps most of the time. We haven't been able to have a conversation yet, and he won't be able to remember anything at this point anyway. As far as the accident itself goes, the girl did not actually run the stop sign. She stopped, saw the bike, but thought she saw the right turn signal on, as well as the modulating headlight. She turned left and my dad didn't have enough time to stop. She wasn't on a phone or drunk or anything like that. She just made a very terrible decision to make the turn. He is getting better and my family appreciates all of the support. ~Jeff Nantais
