J&M Headsets

I am going to the store today to buy two new J&M Headsets and lower cords.

 

Does anyone know if there is any REAL difference between the "performance" headset and the "Elite" headset?

 

The price isn't much different, and the descriptions are identical between the two.

 

However, the lower cords are $30 difference between the "P" and "Z" cords. They look identical also.

 

 

Has anyone here had both, and could tell a difference? Need to know soon, as I'm going to get them in a bit.

I had the econo sets to start with and they were ok. I upgraded to the Elite and noticed a lot clearer sound with better base. The econo sets sounded scratchy (if that makes sense).

Yes, the have an Econo set, in addition to the Elite and Performance sets. I am not interested in the Econo set.

 

The Elite and Performance sets both have an identical write-up on them. Just the part # is different, so I am looking to see if there is any difference.

I bought them yesterday. I got 2 Elite headsets with lower cords for $476.00.

 

According to the owner, the Performance series headsets are a few dollars cheaper, but they have a lot of issues with cord failures, both upper and lower. The biggest difference is the price between the P and E lower cords. The P cords are apparently made in China, and have a high failure rate. The P upper cords have an issue with the microphone cord negative side, which is a braided shield, and fails due to flexing so much.

 

The Elite sets don't appear to have these problems, so I opted for those. Still got them at a good price. He has a pretty good discount from J&M's price.

 

He may be coming to our International Rally as a vendor.

I have had my elites for 10 years. They work well. J&M gives good support. I would not skimp.
