a curious question

We are always told that a car has an engine not a motor. This based on the fact that a motor runs on electricity and an engine is a based on internal combustion. So why is it called a motorcycle not an enginecycle

Because my 'motorcycle' runs on electricity... and fuel??? Take either one away and you won't coast very far.....unless you're near the Grand Canyon....
