We plan a trip in the first weekend of June to Windsor. Decided to stay over the night, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to stay and, of course, eat. We are going to Willistead Park for Art in the Park. Thanks folks!!

Caesars casino is only a couple of blocks away from Art in the Park, right on the river and sometimes they have some real good promotions. Check the web site.

All of the big name chain hotels are in town too.

Lots of good places to eat. Check out Erie Street for little Italy. Wyandotte west for China town. Again all the big name chain restaurants are in town.

Not sure if we will still be here then but if we are we could hook up for a M&E. I'm thinking that's the weekend we are heading west.

Last time in Windsor I stayed in the Hilton, right on the Detroit river, nice hotel and supervised parking. It was impressive to look out the window and see the GM World headquarters, Cobo Hall and Joe Louis arena right there across the river. Youre failry close to the gorgeous Casino run by Caesars Palace, and the crossing to go into Detroit , (If youre so inclined). The prices were reasonable and food and beer were good.

I don't think we are doing anything that weekend, if you like we could meet up. Like Gary has said the casino is close to all the major hotels even the casino has very nice rooms and very good restaurants. We have other really nice restaurants, any kind of cuisine you may like, Chinese, Lebanese, Thai and if you like steaks, The Keg...again right on the water front....If Gunkylump and Gary are free we can sort something out.

I've stayed at the Hilton in Windsor there as well, great scenery of the river front with the Keg right next door.

Another interesting choice is in Chatham just outside of Windsor. They dropped a lot of cash into this place. Very antique, nice and retro; never seen a place close to this design.

The Red Bull air races are the same weekend as Art in the Park this year. It may be hard to find a room at any of the better places unless you have real deep pockets. :mo money:

I used to live in Wainfleet...schooled in Winger.....also lived in Lowbanks.....many, many moons ago.

You might want to google some Bed and Breakfasts......going to be a very busy weekend down this way that weekend.

Erie Street has some of the best Italian styled restaurants in Ontario, there are also some extremely good Lebanese restaurants closer to downtown. As was already mentioned, the Keg and other brand name chain type restaurants....Casey's is very good as well.

I like taking Beth out to Costco...cheapest fries, hot dawgs and ice cream in the county

Let us "southerners" know when you're coming, we're always ready for another meal!
