This is 16mm color (not "colorized") footage, that you may not have seen, of carrier action in the Pacific. There wasn't much color shot in the '40s - extremely expensive then, with a complicated and exacting processing process. Enjoy... WW II : RARE COLOR FILM : AIRCRAFT CARRIER IN THE PACIFIC
gunboat Posted May 17, 2010 #2 Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) thanks for posting this. as a kid i used to see a series of ww2 fims called victory at sea. these films were great. as with this film some of the victory at sea films were in color. every now and then one of the tv channels will rebrodcast these old films. again thanks, least we never forget. best reguards don c. Sailor Posted May 17, 2010 #4 Posted May 17, 2010 The Pacific war was largely fought by Americans. That is where you really proved yourselves. The European war was fought by many countries, all who fought with valor. The Pacific war was far from Europe and the only help you had was from Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians and British. Their resources were depleted after years of war in Europe. It fell upon the Americans to take on the Japanese and you did a heroic job.
