Shot Posted May 15, 2010 #1 Posted May 15, 2010 I recently had someone's peg hit my right rear saddlebag turning a corner and you know what happened. Around $700 later its done except for the pin stripe around the luggage rack. I have a 2004 R/S Venture, pearl white. Does anyone have this stripe laying around I could purchase? The dealer in Wilson, NC was no help. Thanks..............
eusa1 Posted May 15, 2010 #2 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) not sure if you want the right saddlebag stripe or the tour pack stripe, your post states something about luggage rack?? here is the yamaha part number and price for the stripe on the right saddlebag. 4XY-2840J-80-00 SADDLEBAG GRAPHIC SET $101.54 yamaha does sell all the stripes for each bag on the ventures. tell your local idiot at the stealership to look up the bag that the stripe is on, and show you the blow up of the attatchements "they are there along with the hinges and locks" mike Edited May 15, 2010 by eusa1
jer878 Posted May 15, 2010 #3 Posted May 15, 2010 I had the same issue with my daughters 03 Chev, she wrecked it I fixed it & had a shop paint the fender. Then for the pin stripe I took it to DR. RU, a pin striping guy up here in the Detroit area. He pulled out some rolls of pin tape from a drawer looking for a close color, then just threw them back in the same drawer closing it. Then he took three bottles of pinning paint did some mixing on a phone book, ( thats right a phone book, just rips off the used page and has a new palette) freehanded the 2-tone stripes and presto, color and sized matched perfectly, couldn't tell from the factory tape. Cost me $50.00 Long story short, there is probably someone in your area that can do the same, good luck. Jim
LilBeaver Posted May 16, 2010 #4 Posted May 16, 2010 For 5-10 bucks at Autozone, murray's, napa, (or whatever) you can get a roll of stripe. To match what is on our bags you might need to go with two separate rolls (for the 'two-tone'-ness) but you can get them there. It might not be exact, but 10 bucks beats 100. If you do want it to be exact, find a local pin stripe guy/gal (like Jer suggested) and pay for them to be painted on.
